You guys all already know why of course... because it's descriptive of the fickle and violent nature of hurricanes. Hurricanes are unpredictable and can fluctuate between extreme violence and completely passive in a heartbeat without warning.
Right this moment for example, it's a nothing burger for my location. It's raining... that's it. But at any moment that could change... what does that remind you of gentlemen?
So... I googled for the historic reasons these storms were named after females.
