Advice from a kid who had an unfaithful parent

I just found this sub and wanted to say a word or two to all the parents dealing with an unfaithful spouse. Please please please keep your kids out of it. I was 16 when I found out. My parents split, and told me things no kid should have to hear come from their parent.

DON’T DEMONIZE YOUR SPOUSE. DON’T MAKE YOUR CHILDREN PICK SIDES. DO NOT INVOLVE THEM IN ARGUMENTS.

It hurts enough knowing your parent is a cheater. If you have to argue, do so where your children can’t hear you. Get them a therapist, I for sure needed one.

I know it’s a hard situation. It’s hard for everyone. Love your kids, don’t make them pick who’s the ‘better’ parent. It’s an awful feeling, which I am personally familiar with.

Thanks for listening.
