I’m left and I think the right can be just as batshit. Name a leftist school shooter.
[–][deleted] 18 points19 points20 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Stephen Paddock, Omar Mateen, Seng-Hui Cho, Dzhokar Tsarnaev, Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, James Hodgkinson, Rene Boucher
[+]mp111-10 points-9 points-8 points 6 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link
No one you named was a leftist school shooter, most of which weren’t even leftist. Tashfeen malik was conservative. Or do you have to be white and American to be considered “the right”?
[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
All of the above were registered democrats. Malik was a conservative muslim, meaning she wore a Burka, not that she was a Republican.
James Hodgkinson was a Bernie volunteer.
The only "rightist" school shooters that I can think of are Anders Brevik and Timothy McVeigh, and there have been conflicting reports about Nikolas Cruz's political affiliations especially since his social media was taken down.
[–]300C1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Leftists are "liberators"...it makes more sense and seems more likely that a lefty will cause violence or harm. They are the ones "fighting" to make a change. Conservatives just want tradition and order.
[–]mp111-3 points-2 points-1 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
It’s funny how, depending where you live, the other political views are seen as “the violent ones”. My point still stands, there are crazies on both sides. No amount of downvotes will change that l.
By your own argument, conservatives would be the violent ones “fighting to keep the status quo”
[–]300C4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I agree with your first paragraph. I also think lots of Trump supporters are stupid too. But the problem is that leftist activism has become so "in your face" and systemically problematic, that conservatives had no choice but to fight back. The left went extremely left. Anyone "right" of Che Guevera is seen as a Nazi bigot. This is literally the most opportunity filled country in the world to ever exist. I dont want to see it turn into some Marxist/anti capitalistic shithole.
[–]mp1111 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
1000% agree it’s going too far. People are idiots. While politicians have us fighting about social politics, we’re all getting fucked over in financial politics. Why exactly do companies need states to enforce monopolies? I thought competition was the key point of the free market.
[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There is more violence from today's left than ever came from conservatives. ANTIFA closed down a Jordan Peterson speech and sparked violence among those there just recently.
All the left stands for is taking away free speech and collectively labeling everyone based on gender and race. Today's modern left are more Marxist than anything. Far from libertarian.
[–]ShrunkenHed5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
But they can't. Neither in extremity nor scale. And besides, you're a binary idiot. While there may only be 2 genders, there is a far greater range of political ideology.
[–]mp111-2 points-1 points0 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Lol, insulting me because you felt personally attacked by my comment. A+ thinking. Leave the political bullshit out of mtgow
PS: The gender identity shit is going too far, but so is this “everyone should own a gun” bullshit
[–]ShrunkenHed0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I didn't feel personally attacked. I just think you're an idiot. You don't need to attack me to feel that way. In fact, you can't attack me because I feel that way. Stop trying to psychoanalyze people. You're a moron. Because of your post I'm buying another gun.
Everyone should own a gun.

mmm, that's the truth under the "compassionate" and "socially-conscious" liberal veneer I know. It always amuses me when they cite a lack of humanity in the right as validation for their own world views.

[–]mp1110 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Section-200 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
It's not that everybody -should- own a gun, that's a personal choice. But, save for some select individuals, should be be able to own one if they choose, without a mountain of interference.
[–]mp111-1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
How do you filter out the crazies without a “mountain of interference”. Should people be able to own, house, and conceal carry both mass murder capable weapons and ammunition? I don’t think so.
I don’t care if ppl own a handgun or rifle for self defense or hunting purposes. The problem stems when you have no training what so ever, no parents / mentors to teach you proper respect for the weapon, no restrictions on how/where to carry, and unrestricted access to have damn near a full militia arsenal.
There are pictures of people walking into family restaurants with fucking m16s. What other purpose can you have, other than trying to look like a badass.
[–]Section-20-1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There is no single solution to "Filtering out the crazies" I truly wish there was. Yes, I have zero problem with someone owning any firearm -legally allowable- regardless of it's capability, carrying concealed, and owning any amount of ammunition they so desire. That's effectively the second amendment in a nutshell.
I know many people that enjoy practice shooting on a weekly basis that purchase and store ammunition in very large quantities to keep costs manageable. Are they bad/dangerous people? It could be easily argued that just about any firearm is "mass-murder capable" depending on the person wielding it. You can legally purchase mortar rounds if you like, and yet I've never heard of a crime being committed with one. I also don't see any issue with someone owning as many firearms as they can afford. Why not? Who determines what number is to many? If you have a healthy curiosity, and are not a complete mental case, guns can be super-fun, like any hobby. To own, collect, build, modify, accessorize, etc..
I don't disagree on your position with regard to training, mentors, parents and firearm respect, not so coincidentally, neither do most gun owners. Man, sure do love that second amendment.

I'm economic left and social right. Go fuckyourself for participating in this "us vs them" labeling of using one word to limp people along battle lines.
Issues are individual and EVERYONE in this sub likely agrees on 90% of things that need improving but are being manipulated to fight amongst eachother with arbitrary labels instead.
That was my entire point. But people can’t see passed the “fuck, now he’s insulting MY views, no more thinking, just typing.”

I'd have to agree. Really the left is shrinking and the right isn't really getting any bigger. Hopefully this sparks an enlightening period in where people are forced to rethink party politics.
The scary thing is, is that so many young people believe in leftist Marxist ideas. So many young ppl actually think socialism is good. That's scary. The lefts effectiveness lies in the fact that their evil ideas are disguised with a smiley face. Their movement needs to die.

The point isn't to discuss virtues of left right like they're two camps of enemies. The point is everyone agrees on social freedoms and ops image is calling some vocal nutjobs as representing "the enemy" aka "the left" like we should be gearing up for war against people who individually we share 90% agreement with.
Ah, the feminist paradise argument, predictable. Almost twice the taxes and half the freedoms. The greatest country on the planet, (that's the United States of America for you Marxists) has it's share of issues, but no where near all your favorite feminist strongholds you just mentioned, not even close. I'll say it loud and clear, no country has e-v-e-r taxed and spent itself into prosperity.

Planned parenthood = unplanned whoring.
Also annoying is the double standard where women can opt out of being a parent in any number of ways but men are expected to "take responsibility for their actions" by paying for the little shit-ling if the woman chooses to keep it. In these and many other situations women have all of the authority with none of the responsibility.

There is actually a schism in feminism between those who think a dude in dress is a woman and those who think a dude in a dress is just a dude in a dress.
If a dude in a dress is a woman then feminist organizations can be taken over and run by dudes in dresses.

Maybe the point is that gender can be separated from biology? I think you’ll be hard pressed to find a trans woman arguing about abortion as if she has a uterus. The idea is that we all have the right to make decisions about our bodies which includes reproductive rights as well as how we present our gender physically. Just a thought. Also where do intersex people fit into the male and female gender binary for y’all? Some people biologically have both male and female sex organs.
[–]tonyv6815-1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
