Yeah you have to be "the rock" while she's free to act as childish as she feels. You have to listen to her problems, but don't you dare offer a solution that involves her actually having to do something.

Every day, my ex would spend the first twenty minutes of us seeing each other with venting about her shitty job, her shitty boss, how she actually had to do work instead of leeching from the company, etc.

One day...just ONE day...I did the same because of some political bullshit at my office. I didn't yell, I didn't whine, I just vented. And in the middle of it, she interrupted and said "Why are you complaining? It's your job!" and left it at that. It was then that I knew I would never marry this girl.

Women subconsciously seek to root out weaknesses in their partners. Now, they may truly believe they are wanting a man to "open up" so that they can relate to him better or be helpful. The problem is that even if her intentions are noble, when the man finally does make himself vulnerable women suddenly find themselves less attracted to him. This is probably a product of evolution where women have succeeded by relying on strong, healthy men to protect and provide for them and so they needed to ensure that a man wasn't bluffing. So they probe for weakness the entire relationship and when a man signals that he is struggling, they start looking around to see if they can upgrade before the ship sinks.

They do occasionally have insight into this behavior with the whole "I'm not looking to be a guy's new mother" bit. What they mean by that is they don't want the responsibility of looking out for the welfare of a grown man - but by their own behaviors and sense of entitlement we see on display, they don't actually want an equal partnership either. They expect a man to take on the role of their new father while being disgusted at the idea of being his new mother.

My gf of three years (best friend of 7 years) decided to dump me over the phone a month after i disclosed the fact that i was seeing a therapist for my anxiety and depression. Needless to say, that pushed me over the edge and i was suicidal for another couple of months. Just getting out of that now. Feel quite angry since i was always there for her when she needed it, and now she decided to dump me when i was at my lowest. She even refused to talk to me after dumping me, not just for reconciliation, but also for refusing to listen to me problems. Maybe I'll forgive her some day, but right now, im very angry at her.

I once was in a relationship where I kept being accused of being too indifferent and overly cautious by the creature I was dating at the time. She would tell me to accept the fact that I was now in a place of love. Thus, over time I opened up to her about certain psychological issues that plagued me. Naively thinking I was doing the 'right thing'. So we had a big fallout one day and to my dismay and disgust she started yelling out ALL the things I had told her in confidence. Leaving NOTHING out. There were people around and she seemed to get a charge out of it. I retaliated by ruining her business by telling her customers how horrible she was as an individual. It was petty I know but GODDAMN it felt good, then that very day, after 3 years, I walked out of her life for good with 2 gifts: SATISFACTION + WISDOM. Needless to say, she tried to 'reconcile' without being accountable. I blocked her on all social media and email. Never and I mean NEVER fall for the ruse of 'opening up'. You'll get burned every time.
