This is from the makeup company ULTA. And it's your typical "women are strong and independent, hear me ROAR!" with the token twink boy putting on makeup. But the hilarious thing that makes this commercial oh so stupid and hypocritical is the line at the end......"You're not here to get beautiful...youre here because you already are!" Them what is the point of makeup in the first place? See, I'm not opposed to women wearing makeup per se, but women shouldn't be hypocrites about it. If you really accept yourself the way you are, you don't need makeup. And I wonder how women have the time to break the dreaded glass ceiling when they spend lots of time just putting on makeup.

And I dig the Navy chick because I recall reading old Air Force manuals on rules and regs regarding how women are supposed to look. Say what you will, but at least back then they looked presentable. Most military women look like shit. So I don't know what this commercial is trying to accomplish with this. You can't be "strong and independent" and belong to a organization that expects you to look a certain. And yes, society doesn't want women to behave and look like women anymore, but men, particularly in the military, are still expected to look masculine.

Which leAds me to the boy with the makeup. Sure, it's all fun and games encouraging boys to act feminine.....until it's time to rescue people from a hurricane. Or clear snow from roadways after the next polar vortex hits. Not too many empowered women doing that . Too busy putting on ULTA makeup.
