Wonder why they shown already shaved man as the bad ones.
[–]oirectine00267 points268 points269 points 5 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link
It's probably some weird bullshit projection. The director was probably thinking of the type of men she finds attractive when casting the "good" men in the ad.
[–]TristanIsSpiffy126 points127 points128 points 5 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link
Absolutely projection. Notice how many plain looking, sort of scruffy, could probably use a hair cut white guys there are.

"Stop being unattractive to me. That's all we are asking of you, men"

At this point the SJW PC snowflakes should just go all in and say “all white Men are evil and for the next 4-5 years we plan on targeting you”.
[–]hodltaco82 points83 points84 points 5 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
All men, especially whites, have been targeted on TV for years already. Look at any commercial on tv today: The patriarch of the family is always a bumbling fool (usually white) and the matriarch always comes off as in control or the smarter of the two. Don't take my word for it-go watch some tv and see for yourself.

I don't think SJW PC people are making these decisions though.
I think the powers that be which drive and influence culture have figured out that the gender divide is a good angle to use to sell women useless shit, so they play along with the "social justice" narrative without actually contributing to the betterment of anything.
The SJW "kill all men" crowd doesn't realize they are being played by the very element they claim to be fighting against because muh herd mentality and muh apex fallacy.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is making a good comeback after they took the game back from EA, it's EA whispering in dices ear to do greedy things which is why most of their titles are as entertaining as watching water evaporate

[–]-Ecliptic-0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
it's just another angle of whining that "gamers" can use to complain. "Gamers" have collectively decided that EA and Activision are Satan's earthly incarnation and they will bitch about them every chance they get. Yes, both companies have done shit things in the name of profit...but pretty much all companies do.
[–]Bulletproofmonk1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
it may have been shit, but it was still playable shit. especially when considering the disasters like black ops 3 and such.
futuristic bullshit only gets you so far.
so BF4 was pretty refreshing when coming off of a run of futuristic style glitch ridden games.
and nearly everything in the battlefield line has been more or less historically accurate as far as timelines go.
you wouldn't expect to see a viking ship against aircraft carriers in bf4, or guided missiles in bf1942.
they ultra fucked up in bf5, then insulted their users by saying "well just don't buy it then"
[–]TheHouseOfStones0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Bf5 is a good game though. No one cares if there's female soliders. There's stg 44 in 1939 battles. The British team can drop a v1 anywhere on the map in a 1939 theatre. None of it is accurate historically.
[–]Bulletproofmonk8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
No one cares if there's female soliders.
yes. clearly they do care. hence their atrocious sales numbers of the game, the stock price drop, the game price cuts that they've done already. they missed their mark with the game big time.
No one would enjoy battlefield one if it was about ww1 from the experiences of brazil would they?
no, if you're going to make a ww2 game, at least try to make it accurate.
It's insulting to all the men that fought and died there to defeat evil. I have family that fought against the nazis, some didn't make it back alive.
unless of course we're missing something that wasn't talked about much in the history books. all the cyborg women that died at the landing of normandy perhaps
[–]HelmutHoffman4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The most historically accurate WW2 FPS game is Forgotten Hope 2. Hands down.
[–]TheHouseOfStones-2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Female soliders are not news in an FPS. Honestly, no one cares.
[–]realChebz0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I care. I didn't buy it just because of their distortion of history to promote feminist agenda. I've been a fan of bf series up to bf3.
And "because female soldiers" is somewhat of a straw man. It's not because there are women, but because tlwomen are used to replace specific men in a historical event. It's extremely disrespectful and low from their side. And if that means I have to pass on one "good game", I'm fine with that.
[–]-Ecliptic-1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sadly "gamers" are often idiots. They scream "DOOM!!!!11111" every time they get butthurt over something.

Remember the Bud beer commercials with Amy Schumer & Seth Rogen that talked about equal pay issues instead of football and drinking? The result was a huge drop in beer sales causing the company to retreat from doing that again.
[–]hodltaco61 points62 points63 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I remember that-just putting Amy Schumer in the beer ad was enough to get me to order anything else. Don't think I've had Budweiser since come to think of it.

Full of SJW and feminist crap. Future is female BS, "Her" getting more spotlight in the word "Hero", showing Nick Fury as a complete idiot next to her to show him as imature next to a strong and independent woman..
[–]MightyUnderTaker8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link
Wait. Where did you see all that?
[–][deleted] 20 points21 points22 points 5 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link
It was all on the trailer, man... How haven't you seen it? If you watched it translated to another language you probably missed it...
PS: The "Future is female" was here
[–]Mitchel-25623 points24 points25 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Eeehhh... I dunno, man. I hate the leftist intersectional religion as much as any other reasonable human, but I think that’s reaching. They’re showing Fury as a younger, less serious/experienced person. His character is definitely going to get a little development in the Captain Marvel movie. And, as far as the “The Future is Female” thing, it’s an article on Entertainment magazine. I would assume that’s more likely to be their journalists injecting politics, but I could be wrong.
[–]Icybubba16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
And as for the "Her, A Hero" thing. Eh I took it as a play on words.
I don't know, I hate SJW's as well, but some people look for PC culture where there is none
[–]Pickled_Wizard5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The whole her(o) thing makes it look like the tone of the movie is more "Look! A FEMALE hero!" rather than a cool hero who is female. They are really stressing her gender rather than her character. Hopefully I'm wrong.
[–]bonethugsgoat1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Even without the SJW stuff the trailers just don't look that good to begin with.
Some here ARE the stereotype. (it's unfortunate)
[–]SomancLulzzz2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
They’re showing Fury as a younger, less serious/experienced person
That's called dumbing down someone for the sake of mary sure to shine. Fury already went through a lot of development in Winter Soldier. Guess what, he wasn't needed to be dumbed down or lose his eye, since, in Captain Marvel, his loss of the eye is what marks his 'development'. Also, given how they are inventing new powers for her (planets moving, time travel) despite her already being so powerful, one cannot help but project their prediction.
[–]Mitchel-256-1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Time will tell. The movie isn't out yet, and I have hope that Marvel can find a writer suitable that won't just turn this character into a Mary Sue like Rey from the new Star Wars trilogy.
Captain Marvel might be powerful, but that doesn't have to make her a Mary Sue. We'll see where it goes.
[–]MightyUnderTaker1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

To be fair, isn't captain marvel depicted as one of the strongest marvel characters in the comics?
[–]Nagi2110 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
She is. Not saying they're not trying to be more sjw tho. But yes captain marvel could probably beat most of the marvel villains without much issue on a normal day.
Some here don't care about that. They want their own ideology on screen instead of what they consider SJW (even if it isn't). Opposite side, same coin.

this comment from youtube proves your point :
Ironic that this ad campaign was directed by Australian director Kim Gehrig, who has been accused of sexuaI abuse by 2 men & 5 women when they were minors. Her victim's videos exposing Ms. Gehrig for being a predator have been on Youtube for a number of years - 1 dating back to 2010. Yet this paedophiIe is trying to smear the vast majority of men as predators & abusers? Gilltette, did you even do a cursory background check on Ms. Gehrig's Somesuch & Co. firm before hiring her to direct this campaign? Explain why your company's associated with a predator who's actions lead to the suicide of one of her victims in 2016!!

Stronk, inderpendente, incorruptable, benevolent, Wamen who push infantile humans out of their bleeding, oozing cunts. I don't hate women, i see them as individuals (which they want you to do, as it means you're not objectifying them), but they have a hive mind, and accuse you of misogyny when you criticize one sole woman as an individual actor, I just can't stand this type of woman. My brother and I grew up being raised by our single mother. Our dad lived in another state and we’d see him maybe every two or three years. Luckily our mother raised us right and we turned out just fine.

[–]Drayelya23 points24 points25 points 5 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
That’s the going story, they’re also mysteriously gaining huge numbers of likes over short periods of time. Meanwhile dislikes are somehow barely growing after 5.2 million views and so much negative feedback that it doesn’t quite add up correctly.
EDIT: Yeah checked back on the video and they’ve went from 100k to 110k in about two minutes. Something stinks.
[–]tallwheel1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah. Only possible non-stinky explanation is that the negative attention drew the attention of a bunch of "woke" SJW's who went to the video to express their support of Gillette by liking the video.
[–]-Ecliptic-4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Too bad for Gillette they won't show support by buying razors and shaving those shit hipster beards.
[+][deleted] 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
[–]Drayelya20 points21 points22 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Nah, as far as I know only YouTube itself can manipulate the likes and dislikes. Coincidentally Google apparently has a lot stock in Gillette.
[–]douevenmathbro1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There's a time lag on updates (30 minutes to 1 day typically), since the servers dont sync dislikes in realtime. Users typically only see dislikes from their own country. Someone from the U.S. might see it live, but someone from Japan could easily be 10k or 15k dislikes behind.
[–]SnackSquadTB1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah and they are buy likes as well. It's hilarious. 3am on the 15th it was 19k to 201k and all the comments except the only one they liked which had 50 likes, were 45 minutes old max. And most of those had over 100 likes. Checked back later and it had changed drastically. They are screwing the like ratio and the comments.
Can't stop it, and when the such a vast majority of people pissed off.
It'll be like when Coca Cola had the new coke tasted like Pepsi, big media deal, quietly died and sneaked the old stuff back on the market.
[–][deleted] 100 points101 points102 points 5 years ago* (19 children) | Copy Link
As a (former) marketing professional I feel compelled to explain that Gillette did not aliante their "one and only demographic."
They appealed ro their largest demographic -- women.
Men who go out and actually buy razers are usually younger single men.
But most men past 30 are married or in a committed relationship.
And in these relationships the majority of shopping is done by the woman, who is ESPECIALLY the one going out and buying the "little" things like toilet paper, toothepaste, and of course razers.
Not only is she buying them for herself, she's buying them for her husband and her son(s) and probably daughter(s) as well.
You're just not going to see very many men in a live-in relationship or marriage actually going to the store to buy razers.
So this is appealing directly to their biggest money maker.
Women are going to go buy Gillette and men may say "don't buy that!" but they will be too lazy to buy their own and she will keep buying Gillette.
[–]oirectine0062 points63 points64 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
This is why nearly everything household-good related is marketed with a "dumb daddy" narrative in the ads. Presenting the woman as an all-knowing domestic goddess who married an imbecile speaks to women (the primary purchasing power behind household goods) while making them feel "empowered" by an advertisement.
This has been going on for decades. Once advertisers learned where the purchasing power is (women), they started to cater to the "men are trash amirite ladies" angle.

Eventually the blow back will happen though. You're spot on but men are waking up and taking a stand (took too damn long IMO). As marriages dwindle and LTR become less common you'll see a shift and I for one welcome it.

Here's the mistake that you in Gillette are making. You're describing to women moral Behavior everybody which they have none. Women do not purchase products because they agree morally with the direction the company is going in. They purchased products in order to convey status.
Razors, blades, and other shaving accessories are commodity items so there is no real way for them to convey status. It's possible that they will use this as a means of virtue signaling as that is a proxy form of status, but that will only work if major celebrities or other influencers within these women's circles adopt the same stance. I highly doubt that will happen from this advertisement because even though it spends a great deal of time shaming man, it fails to do what women really require and that's praise them for being strong and independent.
No, I think the only thing Gillette managed to do here was alienate the single demographic that does purchase products based on moral obligation. That's men. Men are the only group I've ever seen consistently vote with their wallets for moral reasons. Men are incredibly loyal to brands that they respect and Incredibly willing to punish brands that violate their code of ethics. Women don't operate that way. They care only about conveying status.
[–][deleted] 17 points18 points19 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You're over thinking this. It's brand awareness. Women buy the most razers. Awareness on target demographic has been achieved. Married men and men in relationships snd sons will continue using whatever fucking razers the wife, girlfriend, or mom brings home. And they will continue bringing home Gillette.
[–]boytjie2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They care only about conveying status.
He's not saying different because women "care only about conveying status". So if they do the shopping (which they generally do), men will use Gillette irrespective of their ethical stance.

Also, most women will believe that it will make their men change somehow.
The same way they see a brown man and think terrorist, they'll attribute the use of those razors to some magical change.
For example, one woman knew a guy who killed someone and he ate a type of cheese. I happened to eat that same cheese and she gasped thinking I'm a killer.
Women really are that stupid.

[–]Darth_Toenail1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Feminists are an extremely vocal minority. I've met very few women who are on board the #metoo train enthusiastically enough to make them likely to start buying Gillette razors just because of a man-hating commercial. When women buy razors, chances are most of them are buying Gillette already, so if this was intended to boost the female market I think it's going to backfire spectacularly.
The only effect this will have is that a lot of men are going to choose other brands. Trump's election was as much a sign of people being fed up with this SJW crap as it was evidence that there's "no such thing as bad publicity". Hillary's "deplorables" comment was talked about a lot, and that didn't work out for her.
Conversely, Lots of people talk about hating the wall therefore the wall will be the most amazing and greatest wall ever built. When people hate something it simply becomes more powerful. Everyone just ignored Hillary and that’s why she went away.

[–]FritzLn5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
and the blind spot will only be exacerbated as society attempts to "lean in" for women, get women involved in "tech", obliviate gender roles (aka women get to be anything they want but men have to be providers and protectors). a woman born in the late 2000s will think she's even more of an infallible goddess than her father already tells her she is

Here's a top tip gentlemen; learn to use a straight razor. It will toughen up your skin and give you a closer shave once you get good at it. The best part is you can buy single sided razor blades from any random company you want. Once you buy the stainless steel handle you can get 100 razor blades for less than 5 dollars. You can also experiment with different and more pleasing (to you) shaving oils and creams. And you get to pretend like you're living in the 20's to boot!
[–]-Ecliptic-0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah those one piece guys are great especially since now you have to learn how to sharpen them really well on a belt. Ok, heads up. Because of mating and reproduction rituals, women actually prefer the very type of men that they're attacking as "toxic." I mean, in high-school all you had to do was beat up a weaker guy and you'd be banging a cheerleader under the bleachers. Women get horny causing two guys to beat each other up in a bar.
So what Gillette is saying, is use their razors and let somebody else fuck your girlfriend.
[–]New_User19841 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not to get all trp on you, but it’s a shit test.
Thats cruel.
Here's the best part. Gillette is already an enemy of the far left, feminists and PETA for testing on animals and engaging in the supposed "pink tax" by selling jacked-up pink razors to women. Yes, it's BS because the blades are different and animal testing is 1st world ills, but my point is that P&G is not just shooting themselves in the foot; they're going toe to toe and cutting each one off.
Also, cue the "dollar shave club" ads in every MGTOW video on YouTube.

I’d hate to be this guy but I really gotta ask, what is wrong with the gillet add? It literally only tells men to not harass or sexually assault women. I see nothing wrong with that.
[–]besignerr960 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Dumbest brand of 2019.
[–]massy5250 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sadly they are probably banking on the fact that women spend the majority of money. Their sales will probably go up as women purchase the razors for their beta slave.

[–]New_User1984-1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That’s patriarchy. Men can get their own razors /s

Can't tell if this is sarcasm these days.

[–]Samuraidweeb1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
And what does this great and brave campaign hopes to accomplish? To tell men that they are rapists just because they are men? You're retarded.
[–]schemadrome-3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
