The hard part would be getting your possessions down to a number that everything fits in a tiny house.

Also, be sure to research before you start spending money. I have heard (don't know if it's true), that a significant challenge with tiny houses is finding an area where they aren't prevented by the zoning rules.

I have also read that a used trailer is a very cost-effective option. But you have to inspect it before you buy, and know what to look for.

I'm currently looking into a 16x20' ish Tuff shed type structure and converting that into a home. If the city won't allow that, I may build something of comparable size. Zoning regs here will not allow for tiny houses as permanent residences yet, and I would like more space than a typical tiny house. Something modest, probably between 6-700 sq ft of living space, then possibly add a 900ish sq ft detached shop for the hobbies (cars, mountain bikes, boom sticks, etc.). I can probably get this all done for under/around 70k including the land where I live (average home price is in the 2-300 k range). I'd still be on grid, though. I'm not at a point in my life yet where I can justify going off grid.
