Much like Batman villains, women are a superstitious and cowardly lot, so they rely on all sorts of bullshit, like horoscopes, in an attempt to gain some control of their lives, even if that control is only an illusion.

It's about finding justifications for actions that can't be justified as correct, logical, or socially acceptable decisions.

Horoscopes are all about people matching, compatible signs, and so on. Girl wants to be with the bad boy even though the good guy has more money and treats her better? Look into the book of horoscopes to explain it all away and avoid admitting the real reasons.

Astrology is an interesting subject.

Steel manning it, it's an examination of archetypes and patterns. You can look to the Rider-Waite deck, and it's exploration of four stories, represented through the four suits, as ways of seeing how people lives tend to go based on their initial assumptions. There's a lot there, and it's really valuable.

...But once you start talking about divination, you've lost your goddamn mind. In practice, it's an anti free will argument; my actions and behaviors are outside my control, as it's really the stars that run the show. You can't argue with me, it's not up to me, I'm ultimately a puppet/victim of larger forces. That's why they like it.

In the past it probably had relevance, think of food availability during pregnancy ect. People are completely seasonally so the nutrients the foetus got were dependant on what time of year it was. How much sunlight ect...

Even now what time in the year you were born can be used to predict the likelihood of different physical and mental illnesses.

People don't naturally get that much smarter over time, they only develop the mental abilities and personality traits they need to get by in life. Most things we think of as positive like responsibility, rationality, and hard work do not come naturally to people.

Most women in our society can get through life on half a brain. They skate through the school system given easy high marks. The glass for prevents them from having to take tough jobs. Finding a dedicated spouse requires little effort. They have a social support network of major government programs and friends and family who will help them no questions asked when they mess up big time. Outside of a few specific situations, in the vast majority of interactions and conflicts they have in their life, people go easy on them.

If a man is 20 and is still dumb enough to believe in astrology, he is going to run into all sorts of problems. A woman can be that dumb and still be fine. She does not need to strengthen her reasoning or problem-solving skills, she does not need to learn how to think ahead. She can be an airhead who is constantly in a state of shock at all the extremely predictable things that keep happening to her, and turn out fine enough.
