So today a bro, I, and a female colleague were having lunch. She's 5/10 but has the attitude of royalty, of course.

Princess just moved back to her parents because she can't even afford rent. But she was detailing her holiday plans: diving in the ocean, rented ship, motorbike there and back.

I'm frugal as fuck, my holiday was a boring 4-day car trip to a nearby lake. I did, however, buy TSLA when it was 200. Casually discussed this with my buddy and dropped that I might sell and use the money for down payment on a second home.

She was noticeably silent on the way back.

I learned that late so unlikely to be retiring early, I learned early enough though so that when I do retire I’ll be comfortable.

Yup. Where I live we dont have the massive salaries or investment options Americans do but I have a lot of money saved up - way more than your average guy my age - and am hopefully due a massive raise from next month. Knowing I can do what I want is so freeing. My company cant treat me like shit because first they need me more than I need them (skilled pentesters are exceedingly rare especially over here) and even if I did lose my job I can live for years on what I have now. There is no one to please, no need to waste money on things like holidays or gifts or special meals, just me and the around 50% of my paycheck going into saving each month.

I always find it so funny scrolling reddit and seeing "you need to talk about big purchases like that with your partner first" referring to like $500 purchases. Im always like damn I could spend that without a second thought. Married life sounds fucking gay
