As a fan of manga and anime, you will eventually come across the term/genre, "Netorare".

Honestly, I despise the genre in general. With that said, every now and again, I read "Netorare" works to remind myself why I hate it. Not unlike taking a dose of red pills now that I think about it.

Why do I hate it, you might ask? Let me give you a few points:

  1. I emphasize too much with the man whose wife/lover has been taken away from him. I'm not talking about men who are assholes or have a cuckolding fetish. I'm talking about normal or even likable men suffering that loss. That empathy makes it impossible for me feel anything other than contempt for the overall theme of the genre which basically says, "Your wife/lover is an unfaithful wh*re who will dump you as soon as she finds someone who screws her better than you."
  2. The people who take the wives/lovers away are often unlikable assholes if not downright evil villains. As someone with at least some moral standards, why in the hell would I want to root for them or imagine myself as them? Also, we already have more than enough injustices in the real world as it is.
  3. The women generally choose to continue "loving" the asshole or evil character no matter how horrible or cruel they are to them and/or everyone else. While some "Netorare" works do use plot devices such as mind control or aphrodisiacs, a significant number of them simple use the excuse of, "He is just so good at doing 'it'."

The ironic thing about "Netorare" is that it reflects a part of what MGTOW think about women in general. Just like what MGTOW think about women when it comes to sex, "Netorare" portrays women as ultimately unfaithful individuals who are prone to becoming degenerate hedonists who will happily be enslaved to whoever makes them feel good no matter how evil or cruel their master is.

In fact, it was a "Netorare" work of fiction which made me feel what was basically a pale imitation of the true agony of being cheated on. Needless to say, I did not like that feeling at all.

Anyway, I just wanted to post my views on the genre and its link to MGTOW. Cheers.
