Jack Bogle, he is credited with creating the first index fund.

Warren Buffett called him "The single most influential man of the middle class"

Imagine you are an average american and you aren't good at math.

Imagine your employer says "Well we offer a matching 401K with vanguard, would you like to place 5% of your paycheck into that account?"

You say ok, not understanding that the exchange trade fund Jack created essentially gives you a piece of every successful business for the next 35 years.

You retire because of a bad back and decide to open your vanguard account to see over a million dollars. More than enough to retire in Florida.

Even if you die early, your children and your children's children will benefit from Jack letting the middle class in on the game.

Jack Bogle gave regular people a way towards inter-generational prosperity, that is something no human has ever done.

Jack found a way that Americans could invest in America (and later global sectors).

That is pretty god damn impressive.

We might say politicians or scientists or athletes won this era but no, it was a single man who figured out a way to allocate capital more effectively. And from that, we have our best politicians, we have our best scientists, we have our best athletes.

Efficient allocation of capital is paramount to any human endeavor.

Jack Bogle is the man you never heard of that made this world a better place.

Edit: Bob Ross had his own art supply store. Now imagine if the supply chain for those products ceased. No art.

What about paper? What about plastics? Metal? Pharmaceuticals?

Everything, all the art, all the culture that we enjoy is a direct relationship with economic prosperity.

Mike Tyson is one of my inspirations oddly enough. I find him very wholesome in the way that he’s transformed into such a calm, positive, well adjusted person. The old mike Tyson was like a rabid dog, and likely to become a tragic burnout. But here he is, calm, warm, funny and stable.

To me he shows that a person can really improve themselves and change for the better.
