Recent discussion with regard to addiction , motivation, and Manipulation got me thinking about why we do the things we do.

And for those who need studies : read this

Basically, behavior is learned, with some genetic / enzymatic likelihoods for some specific behaviors, as a way to either get a very positive feeling or a avoid a negative one.

We model our behaviors, both positive and negative, on the same principles. Rewards, or more accurately, on the possibility of reward.

We all have addictive behaviors. Some are net positive in your lives. Some are net negative. I could write more, but the bottom line is - only you know what those are for you.

Last thought on this :

"I'm a little fuck up who doesn't have the work ethic I need to hit my goals, I'm not fucking the bitches I want to fuck or making the money I want to make, so I don't get to do the fun stuff that a more successful guy would." That is the heart of TRP - you do not get to do what I get to do, and I do not get to do what Chris Pratt gets to do, and he doesn't get to do what Leo gets to do.

Nah. you are making the money you want to make and fucking the bitches you want to fuck, and driving the car you want to drive.

How do I know?

If you wanted it, you wouldn't be doing the same shit that gets you results you DON'T want, would you?

In the end,

The man takes the drink

then

The drink takes the man

then

The drink takes the drink

You want to change the results you get?

Change how you do things.
