You might notice reddit is strange today, with many subs going "private". This is part of a protest triggered by one incident where Reddit Headquarters didn't communicate a personnel change with the mods that run the most popular subs. You can read more about it here. This is an issue that affected many subs, but not ours directly.

However, this small event stems from a series of policy changes made after the new CEO Pao came to run things. Since Chairman Pao, redditor /u/ekjp, came to power, many important posts in the main page that criticized her were deleted and other changes are being made that communities don't like. Some subs were banned for having unpopular views. You might have seen how TRP is one of those subs that might be targeted next. Chairman Pao's policy of disrespecting the independence of the communities and disregarding the mods in them creates a very unstable atmosphere, especially in subs like ours. This has been going on for a while, but only now the effects of Pao's policy are having repercussions in all of reddit.

It is unclear where these protests will end. Some think this will phase out, and all will be back to normal in a few hours or days. Others think the most popular reddit communities might fall apart under a struggle between the Reddit headquarters and the mods. Some think these are the first steps towards other major crackdowns, and this will end like Digg did back in the day. It all depends on how Reddit headquarters handle things, and the crowd mentality of the response of communities. I have no clue how this will end.

The latest events have not affected MRP directly. To be clear: we have not been target yet in any overt way. However, this trend is not good for reddit, especially, for subs like ours. I have temporarily set this sub to private, and quickly restored it to public, just to signal how we don't like this bullying and disrespect of communities from Reddit Headquarters. I also encourage users to stop giving Gold.

As mods, our main job is to catalyze your potential as a community. Meanwhile, we will keep monitoring these events. If something unexpected happened, we will reunite in www.marriedredpill.com. We hope this won't be necessary, as reddit is a good platform for our community.

We do hope this protest leads to policy changes in Reddit that are more friendly to communities and mods.

Update: /r/Blackout2015/ seems to be the sub where this protest is being followed more closely. It is full of news and rumors.

Update 2: This is a link to a live stream of updates. It seems have hit many major international newspapers.
