What's something you want to accomplish by the end of May?

I've been waffling (OMG sorry) about getting off carbs and back onto keto. I'm gonna start back up on may 1 when I get back from a weekend trip. I'll have prepped my meals before I leave so I can jump right back on. I've been going to the gym 2-3 times a week this month, goal is to return to 5x a week through May.

I'm starting therapy, I will be working on short and long term goals for myself. I'll also be asking for help to get through some prior traumatic events that I know are still weighing on me and my thought process.

Once my gym and journaling/therapy work is going on a month, I'll pick up a part time job.

What things are you working towards for the next 40 days or so?

Getting a new job. I'm starting some businesses but they won't support me in the short term.

I thought I found my dream job, but I ran afoul of a DEI employee and the company chose to act against my interests.

Good luck on your search. If you haven't already, try using chatgpt to help you draft your resume/cover letters. I've found editing their drafts is much easier than starting from scratch

What does waffling mean why are you apologizing?

I wanna get out of here away from my family & moved into the group home by end of May. Idk how long this takes. I also wanna explore an abandoned gypsum mine.M in may! Abandoned mines are very cool I’ve never been in 1 before but I watch a lot of videos of them. That’s it I think

Waffling means not making a decision, but waffles are also forbidden carb foods while on keto, so it was an unintended pun and it made me laugh.

Depending on group home, and what residence requirements they hold, you may find it takes longer than typical apartment or rental agreements.

Oh ok thanks for explaining

Idk what apartment or rental agreements are or how long they take

[–]Disastrous-Star-7746[S] 2 points3 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

Not certain where you are. In cities I've lived in US, some rental agreements/places get booked really fast and some stay available longer. But even if you meet them, like the place, have then deposit and first month rent ready, it may be a couple days to get in bc the company wants to do a credit or background check maybe.

I worked as a case manager and helped some folks who had serious medical issues get into group homes. Some were very easy to get into but offered little service or assistance to residents, despite their needs.

Others (usually govt run, sometimes private insurance run) may take weeks or months to get into and may require a case manager or medical permission to get into.

If you're unsure how the process works, if you have a 211 information to call in your area, I'd try that and ask them if they could help you out.

Thanks for trying to help I have a case manager. I don’t understand the first paragraph but it doesn’t matter. I’m going to the group home for autism. The group home is for adults with autism. They’re moving me into. The governments doing it. I can’t do it on my own I don’t understand most of what’s going on, it’s communication mainly between the government workers & my mother & my grandma. A lady is coming the next day to fill in papers for the disability program that’ll get me out in a group home I know that, I’ll try to ask her how long it takes.

I'm sorry you need the help, but I'm glad you're receiving it. I hope that transition is smooth and you find yourself in a good place to be

You don’t need to say sorry you didn’t do anything bad, also thanks I met the lady she was very nice to me and she said I have another option it’s like being adopted as an adult like a normal family house takes you in. She said it’s quieter & less people than the group homes would be. I think this is best option I’m excited. Also she said it’ll happen at least before autumn but I don’t think it’ll take that long because she knows My family hurts Me and also I’m a really good boy i don’t cause a lot of problems so I think it won’t be that long because I’m a good boy. Im excited to finally leave I’ve been wisitinf my whole life to escape it’s finally gonna happen im so happy I can explode but if I explode I am dead and if I am dead I can’t enjoy escaping so I’ll try not to explode but I feel like im gonna explode. Yeah im very happy this is great

Start regular exercise.

I've found a combo of uphill walking/stairs, 5x5 weights (popular program that covers all bases for a noob), and yoga, is working for me. Diet is the next step, I have successfully used keto before I just gotta stay with it when I get to the maintaining part.

There's lots of apps for bodyweight exercises too. What did you have in mind?

[–]crujones33 2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Body weight would be nice since I no longer have a gym membership. I don’t have a partner for spotting free weights that my apartment fitness room has available. I do need the compound exercises that covers all bases as you said.

Yoga would be nice but that will most likely mean a meme warship somewhere and I don’t have money in my budget for that.

I have stairs, treadmill, and outside for walk I get that I just need to force myself to use.

My depression is holding me down. As always in my life, my problem is a lack of self-motivation.

Fuck that meditation (great when first up or if you're stuck in your day, 5 min) https://youtu.be/92i5m3tV5XY

Evening meditation (sounds like the Childlike Empress reading to you, 5 min) https://youtu.be/8YDSnNYxaqg

Look up yoga with Adrienne or yoga with Kassandra on YouTube. Probably hundreds of free ones, plus there's other yogis online that upload free.

I just do that bc I don't have cash for classes either, but it's nice because I'm not self conscious like I may feel in a room full of mostly women. Been doing those with mixed consistency for a few years.

I think burpees are the best overall bodyweight exercises. If you start with 5, start with 5. You are only competing against your own high score

Cleaning my place. Since my son started screaming and calling me a Nazi, I haven't seen him in over a month. I spent so much time trying to find a reason to keep living that my already less than perfect housekeeping slipped badly and I am ashamed of myself.

[–]Disastrous-Star-7746[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm really glad you're working on your place. It's tedious, but I find it makes me feel better. I've also worked on accepting that im just not a "better home and garden" level housekeeper: I don't wanna live in filth or like a hoarder, but clutter is OK if I'm OK with it.

Saw a Ted talk where a shrink was stating that "cleaning is morally neutral behavior" and it really helped me cut some shame/self resentment out. This is an article about it
