Women rape boys and girls. That is true. And that happens not only in modern times, I know stories from abusive grandmothers too. The difference in quantity towards man raping boys and girls is what makes people dismiss this. And the general idea of society that women would be naturaly better parents and all women loving children just because they run less from having a child than men because they feel the direct consequences. I think we need to dive deep into misconceptions of "nature" to get people take this issue serious. Or we need to scream louder about the times awful things like this happen. But from personal experience (my grandmother had raped my father) I know that nobody wants to hear or care about something that goes against their most baisic believes. As a women I think that cruelty isn't gender specific. And I think the real issue is that people never listen to negative messages. The women rights had been more sucsessful since they tried the "positive" method by pointing out the benefits of equality. I think even if it is child abuse most people just close the news unless the topic can be discussed so the average Joe likes debatting about it at the dinner table. And yes I think that is really macabre but my observation so far after I studied also gender studies as part of my education as teacher, which also includes getting rid of stereotypes about both genders to teach gender neutral, shows it is all just about sounding hip and modern. Half of what people say they don't practice themselves. All the partys I had attended with folks who felt cool debating gender equality. It needs to be discussed so you still can sip a beer and have a laugh afterwards or people just wont want to talk about it. And there are people who scream louder and get dismissed. There are people unheard by most who do the real steps forward by finding out why things are wrong. What we all can do better. Well I am more one of the first category. My boyfriend got harrest again and I want to punch a wall. Maybe this post however was more effective than punching a wall.
