So why should women be able to unilaterally make a decision that affects 23% of a man's life? They say that consent to sex is not consent to pregnancy. So why does this glaring inequality exist?

Because so many people like to hide behind the "its for the good of the child!" rhetoric, and can sleep soundly doing so knowing the money they spend on shoes, make-up, hair and nail appointments, shoes, spa treatments, destination holidays and shoes will ensure that Junior grows up to live a full and joyous life of opportunity.

My preteen sons are watching this debate unfold online and in the news, and the only time they've spoken up is when they hear women chanting that men have no place in the discussion. They can't understand how men have absolutely no say in whether their own flesh and blood has a right to life.

Regardless of what side you're on, I think any rational person would agree that full-term abortion is straight up murder. That's the part that gets me.

Women should have right for abortion regardless of the motivation (not just health condition or rape). If she doesn't want to give a birth and become mother - that's enough.

But the same should be applied to men. No forced fatherhood!

if a woman wants a child she can have it but she should not expect the man who has communicated to her that he does not want a child to provide for it. If the man wants to have the child but the woman does not , the woman can get an abortion because it’s her body. The man has say but the say is very little.

Why are you acting like the mother just throws the child away after their born? If the father is paying child support, that means the mother is most likely taking care of the child which indeed takes up part of her life.

I’m not a huge fan of your stats. You say that pregnancy and childbirth is 1% of a woman’s life, and then count the years of child support as 23% of a man’s life?

You seem to have completely ignored the fact that the woman takes way more care of the child for the same 23% ON TOP OF pregnancy and childbirth (assuming the father is elsewhere paying child support).

Pregnancy and childbirth could take 1% of a woman's life, or it could take the rest of it. My wife recently had to have an abortion because otherwise she, and probably the baby, wouldn't survive pregnancy. The state we're in has a trigger law, so if Roe v Wade goes, then it's going to be even harder should this happen again.

BTW she was on birth control and I had a condom.

Because forcing someone to have a baby against their will is a greater violation of rights than forcing someone to pay for their own child. Obviously. You have a right to bodily autonomy. You don't have a right to never spend money on things you screw up.

Your stats are completely wrong. Having a child represent literally the rest of the life of the mother. If she keep the baby she will be a mother until she dies. You don’t just opt out of parenthood when you give birth. And even if she doesn’t keep the baby and put them up for adoption the pregnancy and birth will have changed her body for the rest of her life.

Women don’t just go through pregnancy and childbirth and that’s it? Having children takes up 100% of their life span.. but if you’re an absent father, it only takes up 23% of yours (by your statistic, without any evidence)

Pro-choice can be defended entirely on the grounds of self-defense. Even if you grant (which not everyone does) that personhood is fully obtained legally and morally from the moment of conception, you are allowed to use lethal force to remove someone from inside your body.

It doesn't matter that they didn't ask to be there.

It doesn't matter that they are innocent and have no bad intentions.

You have the final say over what happens inside of your own body, and pregnancy meets enough of the legal criteria for harm that you are allowed to use lethal force to remove someone.

Now from a Men's rights perspective? Sure, the asymmetry absolutely sucks. For those that want the potential child, it can be devastating to have your desire ignored and disregarded while not being able to do anything to save them. Or from the other side, it sucks being trapped in a relationship and responsibility that you didn't ask for simply because you consented to sex yet your partner and the State force that initial act into becoming consent of parenthood.

On the former, while I think society should be considerate of the man's feelings, the reality is that this is just a tough hand dealt by nature. Until we have the reliable technology to eject and transfer a pregnancy at any stage without harming them or their development, the bodily autonomy of the woman will continue to take priority (as it should).

On the latter, legal/financial abortion is an interesting concept that could alleviate some of the asymmetries. The finer details and practical applications would have to be ironed out to make it work though or it could have some ugly ramifications for both sides.

Women shouldn't be able to abort barring a few circumstances imo, including rape and medical emergencies.

Other than that, a woman has no right to abort after getting pregnant. Don't want a baby? Well then dont get pregnant. Like really. I'm 34 years old, ive never had a pregnancy scare with any of my partners, because i practice safe sex.

Abortion is just immoral, unethical and barbaric. In total, In the US, since 1973 over 60 million babies have been aborted, Over 600k babies are aborted annually. For every 1000 live birth, there's 186 abortions.

Planned parenthood alone performs the majority of these procedures and themselves only perform one adoption to every 139 abortions. They perform 40% of all Abortions in the US. Only 4% of PP clients opt for services that end in Live birth, 96% of PP clients opt for abortion.

I used to not even have a stance on abortion, that is until i read the numbers. And mind you, as much as Libs and the Left promote abortions, they sure as shit arent promoting the facts surrounding abortion. The fact that Abortions in this country have killed more babies than all the men killed in all wars including World War 1 is absolutely mind blowing. Or the fact that Abortions have killed over 20 million black babies makes you wonder who the real racists are.

These numbers are just too much, there's a whole industry profiting off murder and an easy ethical solution to these numbers is adoption. Theres plenty of couples out there that are unable to conceive that would love to adopt a new born. New Borns are the most desirable for adoption over older kids and teens. So why this route isn't being taken is just beyond me. Its pure selfishness on the mothers part.

I must admit I am not the full bottle on the legal position, but it seems to me that someone has got their knickers in a not about whether it is constitutional.

Forget about the right and wrong, if the decision is unconstitutional then it should not stay.

With respects to the question regards regarding child support, then I would say that abortion is a criminal matter as an individual is harmed (terminating a life is murder) {yes, I know that is another whole debate} whereas child support is a civil law matter (someone has a financial grievance against you). Civil law is based on precedence and I would argue that the precedence started with an abandoned woman claiming she needed support.

For men, parental alienation is a massive issue and the misandrist society can't see it. Men are expected to hand over cash to a woman he may have only met once with the intention of that money going to the expenses of raising that child. {yes, that is another whole debate} That child is someone he probably doesn't see as it is in the mother's interest to maximise her time to maximise the payout.

"Financial Abortion" should be an option for men, especially when the child is alienated from the man.
