SUBJECT:

Equalities and Human Rights Commission: Reject illegal strategies of discrimination and support equality for boys and men

BODY:

Equalities and Human Rights Commission,

The Telegraph Reports:

Today, for the first time, the Equalities and Human Rights Commission will be called upon to recognise formally that men and boys can be in positions of systemic disadvantage and inequality in British life - such as education and family life and law.

Why today could be a turning point in the history of men's rights

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/thinking-man/why-today-could-be-a-turning-point-in-the-history-of-mens-rights/

I urge you to recognize formally that men and boys can be in positions of systematic disadvantage and inequality in British life.

Please recall that the members of reddit's Men's Rights subreddit have petitioned EHRC on several occasions, and we continue to seek justice by urging you to take further action for men, boys, their children, and LGBT persons who face discrimination:

In one previous response, the EHRC wrote:

Please be assured that the Commission works strategically within its remit to maximise the use of its statutory functions, duties and powers to regulate for equality and human rights matters. Our overall aims are determined by our Board and set out in our Strategic Plan 2012 – 2015. For further information about the Commission and our remit, please visit: EHRC - About us

Which is why our petitions say:

Furthermore, I urge the Equality and Human Rights Commission, and all other institutions, to fundamentally reject all "strategies" that ignore the gross human rights violations for the majority of people in the United Kingdom, including men, boys, their children, and LGBT persons. Human rights are fundamental, and should not be subject to the strategies and whims of politicians.

So far, they the EHRC has persisted in a detestable practice of using different weights and measures for the human rights of men, boys, and their children than for similarly placed women and girls; effectively supporting injustices against males, in a manner apparently inconsistent with their statutory and treaty obligations.

The EHRC has institutionally privileged women and girls over men and boys. Privileged groups seldom give up their privileges voluntarily. and groups tend to be more immoral than individuals. I urge the EHRC to support equality under the law for all people, and reject privileges that pit one group of people against another.

I urge the EHRC to investigate and end European Human Rights violations against boys and men, including violations of Articles 20, 21, 23, 24, 33, and 41, as cited in the previous calls for justice.

Further, I urge EHRC to recognize that because they impact the UK as a whole, the cited violations of the civil rights of boys and men are covered under the consolidated versions of the Treaty on European Union and the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, which to include "pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality between women and men" (Article 2), to "combat social exclusion and discrimination, and shall promote social justice and protection, equality between women and men, solidarity between generations and protection of the rights of the child." (Article 3, Paragraph 3), and "to eliminate inequalities between women and men, the Union will aim in its different policies to combat all kinds of domestic violence. The Member States should take all necessary measures to prevent and punish these criminal acts and to support and protect the victims." (Article 4, Paragraph 19)

I urge EHRC to respect the civil rights and equality of all British people, and until that time, I urge men and boys who are victims of discrimination to hope for justice, and persevere.
