A father's simple words tell us of the horrors that many boys in Pakistan and their families face:

“A gang of three men took my son from his furniture workshop to repair a door. But they raped him at their home for two days and then threw him on the road. He committed suicide after policemen refused to register his case and instead abused him,” the father told AFP.

The tragedy comes after officials ordered a judicial inquiry last week into a massive child abuse and extortion scandal allegedly involving hundreds of victims amid mounting calls for justice.

Locals claimed at least 280 children were filmed being sexually abused by a gang of 25 men who blackmailed their parents by threatening to leak the videos in the Kasur district of Punjab province.

Abused boy 'killed himself after police ignored plea' By AFP Published: August 15, 2015 http://tribune.com.pk/story/938669/abused-boy-killed-himself-after-police-ignored-plea/

While all children and adults who are victims of sexual assault deserve protection and justice, it has been the case that boy victims have often faced systematic discrimination in many nations, and this appears to also be true in Pakistan.

As you are aware, sex discrimination against boys who are victims of sexual violence is a violation of the Constitution of Pakistan:

25 Equality of citizens.

(1) All citizens are equal before law and are entitled to equal protection of law.

(2) There shall be no discrimination on the basis of sex.

(3) Nothing in this Article shall prevent the State from making any special provision for the protection of women and children.

This is also a Violation of the "Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment", I urge you to recognize that these children are victims of "severe pain or suffering", that published news reports are "well-founded indiations that torture is being systematically practised", that the motivation of their abusers is "any reason based on discrimination of any kind", and that it is within the remit of the Committee Against Torture to "invite that State Party to co-operate in the examination of the information", etc.

This is also a violation of the Commonwealth Charter, which prohibits discrimination against men, boys, and their children who are victims of sexual violence or domestic violence:

Human Rights ".. We note that these rights are universal, indivisible, interdependent and interrelated and cannot be implemented selectively. We are implacably opposed to all forms of discrimination, whether rooted in gender, race, colour, creed, political belief or other grounds." ( commonwealth dot org )

Gender Equality: "We recognise that gender equality and women’s empowerment are essential components of human development and basic human rights" ( commonwealth dot org)

Pakistani boys who are victims of sexual violence are also victims of illegal discrimination and need your help. I urge you to learn to do what is right, to defend the rights of oppressed boy victims, to take up the cause fatherless children who are victims of sexual assault, and to plead the case of widows who try to protect their children.

Pakistani boys who are sexual assault victims need your help. For now, they must hope for justice, and persevere.
