Here is another account of the discrimination faced by disabled veterans and fathers in HHS funded programs, this time in Texas:

I'll be out of the military in a couple weeks. I'll be getting $1,200/mo disability from the DoD until my 80% VA ($1,800) kicks in. One thing for sure is my current child support payment ($522) will break me on my new income and at the very least it needs to be adjusted. Is there a way a best way to get this done, and quickly? Or what is my best option? Any experience I've had with the child support system in Texas has been unsatisfying to say the least. When you call them and they hear that you're a male they pretty much assume you're a piece of shit and start talking rude as hell.

Children are best served when child support is accurately computed in by state formulas as required by federal law, not through abusing parents.

This discrimination also suggests that these fathers and disabled veterans are denied their civil rights to equality under VAWA when they are victims of domestic violence, rape, or sexual assault by the mothers of their children.

I urge you to investigate these matters, protect the civil rights of all Americans, and act in the interests of justice and the best interests of /u/guitarmy21b 's children, and all other similarly placed children.

Until meaningful action is taken to protect their civil rights, victims and their children must persevere.
