The National Science Foundation recently wrote:

The National Science Foundation (NSF) joins with other leading U.S. scientific organizations to emphasize its strong commitment .. to eradicate gender-based discrimination in science.

As the primary funder of fundamental science and engineering research in the U.S., NSF supports researchers and students at the forefront of their fields -- each of whom deserves to be treated fairly, with dignity and respect.

For any NSF-funded entity that fails to adhere to Title IX, NSF will work with the Departments of Justice and Education to ensure compliance with nondiscrimination laws. NSF may terminate funding to any institution found to be in noncompliance with Title IX regulations and that does not voluntarily come into compliance.

It is settled scientific fact that men face discrimination at educational institutions funded by NSF:

Is science finally becoming friendlier to women?

Wendy M. Williams and Stephen J. Ceci think so. As the co-directors of the Cornell Institute for Women in Science, they have spent much of the past six years researching sexism in STEM fields. And according to their latest study, published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, women are no longer at a disadvantage when applying for tenure-track positions in university science departments. In fact, the bias has now flipped: Female candidates are now twice as likely to be chosen as equally qualified men.

Study finds, surprisingly, that women are favored for jobs in STEM

It has been the observation of many members of the men's rights communities that men and boys continue to be victims of illegal discrimination in a variety of government programs. Sometimes, individuals within those programs claim to fight discrimination against all people on the basis of gender, but sometimes do not actually act on discrimination against men and boys. Such actions may violate the fourteenth amendment and statutory rights of males, and to the extent to which individuals within these institutions publicly proclaim those rights to exist, yet consistently and intentionally fail to take meaningful action to protect male victims of discrimination, such actions could be the result of a criminal conspiracy against rights within those institutions.

Therefore, I urge the NSF to demonstrate its "strong commitment .. to eradicate gender-based discrimination in science" by working with the Departments of Justice and Education to ensure compliance with federal laws by implementing appropriate protections to detect and end illegal gender based discrimination against men in hiring at NSF grantees, and to ensure that NSF spends reasonable efforts at eradicating gender discrimination against men as well as against women. I also urge the NSF to consider the need to diversify their own diversity staff, which appears to lack any male members.

Doing so will ensure the integrity of NSF programs and avoid the appearance that NSF is failing in its duties to protect the rights of men against gender-based discrimination.
