I think this is what the "believeallwomen" folks are ignoring as much as they can. Rape is a serious offense, but they don't have a healthy understanding of how a false accusation wastes exactly the same amount of time and effort as a real one -- sometimes more.

It's hours and hours of interviews, hours of forensic evidence collection. Hours, days, weeks, and months of the male victim's life lived under investigation.

I was lucky when I was falsely accused of rape during my divorce that the magistrate knew what bullshit smelled like. Many men, too many men, are not so lucky.

Women who make false rape accusations are some of the most disgusting humans walking the planet, and there are countless innocent men locked up because of them. In theory if they are caught lying they should be given the same sentence as the man they accused. That being said, punishment for false accusations is a very tricky thing. The more severe the punishment for lying, the less likely the woman who made the accusations is to ever come clean and admit her lie. I wish there was a better way to deal with this situation as a whole.

The interesting thing about this case is that there was very compelling evidence that she lied. It wasn't just a his vs. her word case, which is common in these things. And it appears that it still took some time and intervention from the prosecutors office to get the police to make an arrest.
