Where's the grant program to get more gender equality in the boilermaker trade? 🤔
[–]atred 48 points49 points50 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Where is the grant to get more gender equality in kindergarten and earlier school, or registered nurses?
[–]SwampSloth2016 12 points13 points14 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Without double standards would there be any at all?
[–]alligatorterror 12 points13 points14 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I was going to ask that. Apparently the ladies don't want to get dirty?
Buffet feminism - pick and choose advantage arbitrarily
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ms Aguilera disagrees, apparently.
[–]the_unseen_one 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Women only want the nice, high paying jobs. That's why you'll never see a feminist arguing for more female manual laborers and skilled laborers, while they say we need more female business people and CEOs. They only want the good shit, not the hard, shit paying, or dangerous work.
[–]alligatorterror 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Boilermaker is pretty high paying, at least when my dad did it in the 90s
[–]the_unseen_one 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
True, but doubtless he had to bust his ass in hot, uncomfortable and occasionally unsafe conditions with long hours, right? Most skilled labor pays decent, but isn't something feminists want for delicate, entitled women.
[–]alligatorterror 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep, also smelled to high heaven. We had to get a separate washer. One for just his clothes then one for my mother and I because of the transferance

Your drill is the drill that will pierce the Heavens!
[–]xNOM 20 points21 points22 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Incidentally, I counted how many jobs from each end until you hit one that requires you to work outdoors.
2nd from the bottom: Drillers of earth (99.6% male)
86th from the top: Crossing guards and bridge tenders (40.9% male)

I work in a group home looking after residents with mental disabilities, and I'm a man. I'm doing my part for equal representation! Hell yeah!

Refreshing to see that my job (essentially) is about a 50 split.. computer operator.
Well I'm more of an IT guy but it's still in the same boat.

Shoot my profession is 98.2% dudes I've only met one girl between the two different companies I worked for Edit: I'm an apprentice electrician
[–]UsernameGoesHere122 15 points16 points17 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Military 86.4% Aircraft Mechanic 95.8%
No wonder I never see women. The only ones that I do see make it into the tool crib or office jobs and stop working on aircraft.
Also, the vast majority of women in the military work in the hospital or finance.
Edit: I found a chart for military jobs.

The only females I've met on the job as a roofer are the ones who work in the office.
[–]Longjohn_Server 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I feel you dude. Cabinetmakers are at 94.8% male. I'm not gonna be meeting any women at work...
[–]alligatorterror 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Sell your work in the red light district! Lots of ladies there!
[–]Longjohn_Server 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Hah! I can see it now!
I'll saunter up and be all "Hey girls, do you like cabinets?" and I'll wink.
They'll be falling all over me!
Haha
I wish I found more females in my team. The only one we have is a 21year old intern
[–]jeff_the_nurse 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I am PROUD to be part of the 9.4%. Feminists can call for greater representation of men in nursing any day now--I've been waiting for my whole life!
[–]gum11 11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You are a very enthusiastic male nurse. That's pretty cool and rare. I find female coworkers treat men in nursing as patient lifters.. Like men don't mess up their backs after a long time lifting heavy patients.
[–]jeff_the_nurse 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They used to until I told them they weren't independent if they couldn't even do that. I also started using them for helping get deliver babies, and they realized how sexist they were being!
Also, "You are a very enthusiastic male nurse." FTFY ;)

would love to see this with the national average salary for each.

7.5% / 16% / 19.1% here baby! Now you women, do the opposite of that please.
[–]YuenHsiaoTieng 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Maybe wage gap feminists should take this to high schools. Ladies, have you considered going into mining?
[–]TejrnarG 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
This graph also shows a nice overall effect: Think of a diagonal line from top-left to bottom-right. This would divide the sum of all jobs to 50% men and 50% women. But clearly the make % is right of this diagonal in almost the entire graph, which demonstrates that over all MORE MEN WORK THAN WOMEN DO.
[–]theblancmange 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
That makes the assumption that there's an equal number of people in all fields on the graph, which isn't really correct.
[–]TejrnarG 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes, its true. I thought with the total number of professions that might even out. But you are right, stricttly speaking it cannot be followed.

[–]pandaSmore 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
FiveThirtyEight which got it from U.S. Census Bureau.

Thank you. I'm looking for it. I haven't found it yet but am enjoying the podcast so - score!
Still not finding it. I hate to be a pain in the ass but I've tried everything. Can you give me a hand?

Now do one for most deaths at work sorted by the jobs and gender if possible.
