'Desperately worried': Australian father faces jail in Japan amid custody battle

As much as one might praise Japan for other aspects of their culture no matter what side of the fence you're on there is no denying that their criminal justice system is downright third world. Supposedly the reason their conviction rates are so high and crime rates are so low is because they essentially interrogate a confession out of people they've arrested even if they're not necessarily guilty.

Heard all sorts of bad shit about it, it's easy enough to say "Well don't get into trouble while you're there" but if you manage to get into trouble by accident which does happen the Japanese prison system all by itself will find a way to fuck you.

Japan is in some desperate need of reform in this area, they also have capital punishment.

My ex-wife is Japanese. We have 3 kids together. I was lucky, when she left she didn't take the kids.
