You didn't answer the question. What happens to the guy who wants to be a daddy to his genetic offspring, but is duped into believing the child his his, lets say, long enough to sign the birth certificate?

He wanted to be a daddy, he thought he was, instead he was a wallet. He should be able to walk away. Being duped into signing the birth certificate shouldn't be a point of no return, and this is anything but rare.

Men should be able to choose to be a father, no different than women can choose to be a mother. If a man chooses to be a father to a child that is not genetically his, then he would be/should be accountable.

He should also be able to choose whether or not to be a father on an accidental pregnancy, just like the woman can. She can take his decision into account on whether or not she is going to choose to be a mother.

Fatherhood should be opt in.

I think he should get the chance to walk away. But walk means walk - no rights, no access, no contact. No "I still love you, but because your mom cheated on me 8 years ago, I don't have any obligation to take of you anymore. We're friends, but I don't have to help pay for your braces." That's just child abuse.

I actually think legal paternity should be an opt-in on both sides, unless the couple is married, in which case legal paternity is the default and any exceptions to that need to be taken to court. Casual sex is the norm in our society, and single women shouldn't assume that pregnancy will lead to a monthly check, nor should single men assume that pregnancy will lead to an offer to coparent. I'm all for single people AGREEING to coparent on mutually beneficial terms, but in the absence of such agreement, I think that the children of single women should have one legal parent - the one who pushed them out. They alone are making the choice for the baby to be born.

That is mother's wallet abuse. And "true father's wallet abuse". The child does not watch mother's and father's bank account. The child, especially if under 6 years, does not care if father gives mom a check.

Now taking the putative father away, that is child abuse. While the child does not care about who pays his or her food, it cares very much if daddy suddenly gets prohibited by a vengeful mom.

The above a typical example of malicious distortion of facts by feminist warped anti-male logic. Sorry for getting carried away!

The cheating defrauding mom, together with the true father, should repay every penny to the cuckold father. And it should be the decision of the wrong father, if he wants to continue being a father figure to the child. And it definitely is in the interest of the child not to be robbed of his or her "father" by a vengeful money grabbing mother.

Sorry, again, this is just too outrageous to remain quiet.

To my mind, he who raises the child from birth IS the "true father." If he was lied to, that's awful, but just as he shouldn't be forced to step aside for the guy his wife fucked 7 years ago, and just as he shouldn't be deprived of custody rights in the event of divorce, he ALSO shouldn't be offered some sort of demi-father role in which the child thinks of him as Daddy and calls him Daddy, but he doesn't have all the legal obligations and rights of a parent.

I think that walking away is a reasonable response to finding out that you've been cuckholded, and should be a legal option. But wanting to retain your parental rights is ALSO a reasonable response, and sorry, but you don't get a refund on a kid you want to keep! You're the father or you're not, and it should be up to you, as a defrauded spouse, to decide.
