One of my best friends had something similar happen to him a decade ago. His abusive ex that he'd broken up with the week before came to get her things from his apartment, pulled a gun on him, and forced him to have sex with her. He'd gone to the police twice and I didn't believe that they were sending him away each time, he'd been hesitant to press charges on her abuse before so I assumed it was the same thing. I went the last time with him and they told him they'd lock him in a cell for harassment if he came back again.
He's a complete shut-in now. Works from home, has his groceries delivered, never goes outside and especially never interacts with women. We've been best friends for years, he's only met my girlfriend twice and for a very small amount of time before he started having issues.
Yeah I've tried to get him to a therapist but he usually ends up finding excuses to not go. Not really much I can do for him at this point.
I got him back on Reddit for a bit so he could talk on a sub like /rape. But they had pre-banned his account for posting on /KotakuInAction a single time and refused to lift the ban. He has been on /rapecounseling before though, they did something similar by accident but their mods were human enough to let him post there.
You could read it that way, but that would miss the point. Our gender violence laws were written by feminists and from a perspective that assumes male guilt without much regard for the facts (the Duluth model). Society is gynocentric in its inclination, and so tends to minimize harms committed by women, and maximize those caused by men. Toxic masculinity is merely a feminist theoretical construct whose definition seems to be ever-shifting to suit feminist needs.

Isn’t this more of a comment about toxic masculinity? It’s a condemnation of society’s imposition on men, aka, gender roles.

I’m honestly not sure if this is a reactionary/progressive sub; but surely you’d concede that men have it much better than women, no?
