What they don't say is if that money was left in the economy instead of being extracted by taxes, it would produce even more GDP growth. Central planning and government spending is misallocation of capital by definition.

Except for every $1 dollar spent, the government isn't getting those $2 back. That's an increase in private spending. It's likely not even going to get $0.70 back on taxes even with the increased economic activity, so it's still in the red.

Obama doesn't want a functional economy. His objective is to create government dependency in every way possible. In the 90's he was giving speeches on how welfare recipients can be mobilized as a political force.

If investing in people is constructive, it is very unclear which spending, that's to say of all the initiatives or competing theories. In contrast investing in industry etc is much more testable and there is more consensus.
