How in the hell is that bad advice though? Dad gave the son advice that's not only sound when dealing with the opposite sex but people in general. Changing your behavior from person to person is basically how you better your position in the world.

This is why you need a man to raise a son. Her husband is simply telling his son to observe women’s reactions to other men and to learn from them. Her getting upset with him over that shows the basic problem: women don’t know what they want. My mom and my sister have the same problem with me. I’m a dick to women and as a result they chase me. Whenever I do the chivalrous things my mom and sister keep auggesting, they don’t even look at me. Props for this father.

Lol I had to scroll so much to find an NTA opinion, and that was the only one I've seen her reply to. She probably ignored, locked out, forgot the overwhelmingly YTA responses among the upvoted/gilded comments.

And the mods called that a we hate women brigade. Unbelievable. They even properly explained why they think what they do.

My current girlfriend, who is about as sweet and innocent a creature as you could find anywhere, has admitted to me many times she's not into nice guys, or "teddy bears" as she calls them, and used to be super into bad boys until she learned from her mistakes in high school. Now she's got me, and I'm never going to hit her or cheat on her, but I also don't worship the ground she walks on. That's not love that's just infatuation.

Being nice and respectful isn't having a personality, it's just playing along to society's standards. By some measure girls are right to be repulsed by "nice guys"- who the hell wants a mindless drone? Being an asshole can pass for personality in high school, where hormones >brains.

IMO, this woman is making the biggest mistake of parenting - thinking you can control who your children become. All you can do as a parent is try to instill the right values and provide support, but kids will still make their own choices and become their own people. Also, never ask a girl how to get other girls. Even if she knows what she wants (which is somewhat rare) that advice will almost never be useful with anyone else.

When I was in high school I was really into this one girl. I treated her nice and became stuck in the friend zone and she started dating my friend. For the summer she went away and I started hanging out with more with some of my friends from another town and their female friends that I had never met. One of them took to me and I gained confidence from it but more importantly I learned that being nice all the time didn't work. Sometimes with this girl I would say no. Oh lets go to this restaurant for dinner everyone. I'd say na lets go here instead. I wouldn't really care if I won or not but I would purposely become obtuse because it caused her to interact with me in a passionate way that then translated to the relationship that formed over the summer. When school started I didn't see those friends much nor that girl since it was a 20 minute drive to see them and during the week i'd never have time doing that nor would my parents want to drive me (since it was sophomore year) however I used those lessons with the girl I was originally into. Early in the school year i'd say no , talk to the other girl on the phone in front of her , even brining her out when the first girl was around. That is how I got the first girl to date me for awhile. I took that into every relationship I was ever in afterwards.
