Of course he was. Any man that speaks out is lynched. That is how the narrative still exists and why we still have not identified feminism as a Nazi like hate group.

Attack the speaker so as to dismiss the speak. Feminism only exists today as a function of censorship. Any man that speaks out is sent to the gulag.

Isn't this University worried that a punishment will have a chilling and negative effect on whistleblowers who can step forth and expose corruption/abuse of all types? Why don't they see this exposé as a beneft to these fields, in that it can help them to improve their general level of scholarship and rigour? Criticism and audits like this should not open a person up to harrassment via heartless bureaucracy, or else critics will self-censor and corruption will continue to grow unchecked in the shadows.

In a similar vein see what James Cook University, Townsville ,Australia did to Professor Peter Ridd when he dared to express a different view to the group think regarding the state of the Great Barrier Reef.

Im a grad student, and this is way out of line for academic researchers. If one of my professors was caught submitting fake papers to another department in an attempt to deceive and discredit them, it would be a huge embarrassment for the entire university. They would lose all credibility and would be fired immediately.

Deceit is not a tool we use in academic research. It sets a bad example for the students. If you follow this professor's example, you will lose credibility as a researcher. Stick to the proper methods of research and debate. Integrity is everything, and once you lose it, you can't get it back.

Just remember, it doesn't matter if this professor actually revealed bad science in another department. The fact is that his actions compromised the entire university's credibility, and he has to account for his actions and deal with the consequences of destroying his own reputation as a researcher.

He was rightfully investigated for misconduct, because there was misconduct.

He was conducting research using human subjects. TBH the project was a really good one and I had a good laugh over the articles they got published. It highlights the systemic issues with gender studies as a field.

But there is an ethically mandated process that they circumvented.

I've done research during undergrad, grad school, and in post-grad training and had to take the same (or substantially similar) course on research/human subjects multiple times. It's a standard institutional & legal requirement, and can screw with funding for the entire university if not done. The university has an institutional review board (IRB) that needed to approve his project before moving forward

Not condoning harrassment which he likely recieved over this, but requiring this guy to take the training (which is standardized and very, very boring, but also unbiased) and banning him from human subjects research until done is 100% the correct move legally & ethically.

If he had applied for IRB approval & been denied - that likely could have been bias, as similarly structured projects have been approved. Then it would have been more ethical to go around the university's back. But as it stands they have no defense for their actions.

I usually appreciate the daily wire & Ashe Schow's writing, but this is a case of them being misinformed on the technical issues at hand.
