Example - try this: "So, if a man did this, what would be the outcome?"

Ask them questions about their beliefs. Watch how quickly they get fed up with having to justify themselves. For example, "how is the pay gap calculated "? Never feel guilty for disagreeing with feminists. Guilt is their weapon of choice, and reasonable people tend to believe that if someone has a grievance against them, they must have some basis in reality for being guilty. Brett Weinstein has interesting things to say about "woke culture" as a whole.

You cannot control what they think.

However, if you wish to learn something from this, ignore the advice about research and practice, but use it as an opportunity to get two new skills, 1. learning to control your own reactions in the face of stupidity and 2. Socratic argument.

The latter is the skill of being able to ask questions so that the other person arrives at the fault in their own position without you needing to argue. Avoid the temptation to make statements, just keep asking questions until they tie themselves in knots and then either laugh or just leave it at that. All the facts and reason in the world will not change their position, which is based on emotion not logic.

I have found people always find a way to rationalize their beliefs. I have had conversations where I had hard evidence that I had multiple citations for and was still told that I was wrong and misguided. If you are not talking with people who are already willing to have a meaningful conversation, discuss ideas and entertain the notion that they might be wrong there’s not really way to force that. But if you insist on trying I would try to find places that have detailed statistics that back up things that you are saying and are from a good credible source. Try to let them know that you understand things differently than they do and you are just interested in having that conversation. But like I said, the sad thing is people always find a way to rationalize their beliefs regardless of the evidence they are presented with.

These are your family members. I get your frustration, but think long and hard if it's worth it.

That said, what are you trying to argue against? Political stances that you support? Double standards? Or just angry at feminism in general. I ask be cause the clearer your direction the better. If it's a general angry and against feminism (again I get it, lots of reasons to feel this way), but if it is a general anger towards anything feminists they will think you are against all women. The mose specific you are that your against the less this will be an issue. But I'd recommend reasons who you are not against women in general. Because even if it isn't said, it's in the background somewhere.

But again, I want to stress to you the importance that they are your family. Preparing yourself for a fight with them isn't going to be good In a lot of long term relations.

I know you said you don't want to hear the "Walk away/Don't engage" speech (and I don't blame you), but unfortunately, that can sometimes be the best move to make in regards to your own sanity and safety. Now, I'm not saying you shouldn't stand up for yourself if being attacked, as self-defense is never wrong--I'm saying that when it comes to certain people who's stubborness and partiality is to the severity of those you've described, the truth is that you simply can not win the battle OR the war with them, as they've already made up their mind and don't have the slightest interest in logic, reason or objectivity. Therefore, you need to remove them from your life and surround it with those who actually care about equal respect, concern and well-being.

Think of it like walking pass a group of thugs at night, who yell out a nasty comment to you. Now, you COULD turn around, approach them up close and attempt to tell them off if you really wanted to, but it probably wouldn't be the smartest idea, as you'd be out-numbered by a bunch of complete strangers who could very well be dangerous. Instead, it'd be wisest just to get home as quickly as possible and lock all doors behind you. In doing so, you might not have had the last word in the confrontation, but you certainly would have had the last laugh (in terms of safety, that is).

The solution I used wasn't an easy one by any means, but it made me a lot happier in the long run. Stop talking to your radical feminist family members unless you absolutely have to. Got better relatives/friends to be with on Thanksgiving? Go with them. Radfem sister invites you on a trip? Politely decline. If they get aggressive, unfriend, or even block them on all media.

If you still live with these people and have the financial means to move out, DO IT. My god, the difference in my anxiety level whe I realised I don't have to deal with my radfem mom picking fights with me every other day was heavenly. No more walking on eggshells when entering the same room as them.

Radical feminists cannot he reasoned they will only drag you down. So unless your radfem relatives smarten up and realise how toxic theyve become, youre better off without them.

A few comments regarding pay gap.

If people want to compare and look at the pay gap, don't allow them to compare with people over the age of 40ish. Reason being is that this is a much older generation with a different set of values and can be very stuck in its way(tradition). Your generation can not be faulted for older generations and their method of operation, change happens in the present and future, it can't happen in the past. Keep in mind the higher a position you want the generally longer you need to working at a company or at least in your field. Thus also keep in mind if 30 years ago there were barely any women that studied ICT how do you expect to see them in high positions in that field as barely any women got the qualifications.

Thus the most well paid jobs also take the longest to replace and change. Thus median is better than average, as that's also what the majority of men earn, most aren't part of the 1% elite.

Lastly keep in mind if it's a job that involves making deals internationally they might not have much of a choice but give the job to a man. Because not every culture and country is equally emancipated or some not at all. If you want to make deals with certain Japanese, Chinese, Indian, middle Eastern, or similar cultures it might not work if a woman is leading the negotiations. That's not the fault of the men in the countries that most women that complain about these things live in. Even more so I don't see them changing other people's cultures (nor should they unless explicitly asked to help).

Cant wake someone who is pretending to be asleep. However for my entertainment… I would tell them a scenario and then wait for their response. Right after their response I would say what if the sexes are flipped. Usually they say: but it’s different, youre annoying, youre being unreasonable. The best ones laughed and agreed… these people usually dont actively think about an issue from different perspective but they are open to listen. The there are the ones I call them eye-rolls, as in they genuinely think i am making a joke. No bad feelings but they do not consider there might be another possibility or think i disagree with their beliefs. Then there are the angry ones, logically they accepted my argument but they refuse to change their outlook of the world. Their world shattered in front of their eyes and they just arent ready to accept it.

Feminism in and of itself isn’t problematic. Equal Opportunities are demonstrably a good thing. On that basis you can’t “counter feminism”.

What you’ll find if you research “feminism” properly is that it’s an absolutely massive topic and that there are “flavours” of feminism based on literally hundreds of different philosophical or political systems: Marxist, cultural, eco, liberal, radical, Christian, third wave, black, post modern feminism etc. It’s unlikely your female relatives have this broad grounding, they merely react positively to what they find on things like “Ask Women” on Reddit.

Take yourself off and read Marcus Aurelius or something.

You're still young, so you're going to learn this. You can't have a logical conversation with an emotional being. You have to change the way they feel. That takes a lot of time and energy.

You can't just start spouting facts like 40% of domestic violence victims are men, because they won't believe it. Then you can show them that it's a lie "Among victims of this type of violence, women were significantly more likely than men to report each of the negative emotional impacts measured by the survey, while men were more likely than women to say they felt no emotional impact (Chart 4)." and they STILL WON'T BELIEVE YOU.

So you have to change the way they feel. That means doing things like showing them videos of men in the hospital because of DV, while also NOT being judgemental about it.

It takes so much time, and so much energy, and all you're really doing is fuelling their hatred for men by not "acknowledging the way they feel."

So if you want to spend your time trying to convince these people that they're wrong, go right ahead, but it's far easier just to find some level headed thinkers and engage with them. However, the choice is yours.

First off, Why would you want to argue with a Feminist? As stated from other's, they argue with feelings about a topic and not with facts.

But if you must argue, don't actually argue.

A few other's have stated to ask questions. This point can not be overstated, and it really the only way to go. The point is that your question(s) need a few things to be effective. First you need an audience of more then you two, second, you need to really know the subject matter you're going to engage with, third you just have to phrase your question correctly.

As another responder stated, the intent is to phrase your question, based on fact, so that the feminist has to justify her belief. Don't argue back, just follow up with another question where the feminist has to justify her belief.

Doing this in an audience could potentially be very embarrassing for the feminist to justify her/their/him/them/zee/whatever's answer.

The power in the debate comes from you being calm and letting the feminist sink their own ship in front of the audience.

On a side note: I learned this in a very direct way. I asked a guy in my platoon, who was much larger, and more physically built then I, why he had lied to other people, about something he said and that I and another guy did. I knew I was right, he knew he was wrong.

His response to being embarrassed in front of the rest of the platoon, was anger. Nostrils flaring, fists clenching, body posture changing to aggressive.

And yet I kept pressing forward with the statement of "this is what we did", "this is what you said" and "why did you lie about it"?

Had he swung, it would have been a short fight in his favor. But the audience was witness to the interaction. I was calm, he was angry, and the aftermath, had it gone to physical altercation, would have sucked for me and administratively sucked for him.

Remember, you're not arguing the now, you're arguing the aftermath. Keep Calm and Rock On.

You have maybe a few choices that can work. Regardless, never openly disagree with them. That's how you ensure you have trouble with that person, always. If they see you as an antagonist.

I want to read and become so well informed in argument/ debate that I can shut them up/ put them in their place.

You can't. You probably lack the rhetorical background and training which you aren't going to learn on your own. Beyond that, they are emotionally tied to their beliefs in a way that you aren't. If your goal is to change their minds, the act of you disagreeing cements them into their beliefs even further. This is what they want.

Not engaging is still the best plan. Play dumb and pretend you don't have an opinion.

The next best thing is to attempt to understand. Never state your own beliefs, but force them every single time to explain why they think and believe the things they do. Many people hear something that sounds good to them but don't ever think through it. They get tied to a culture that feels empowering to them, but never actually evaluate their own beliefs. Force them to slow down and explain. There are a few possible outcomes. they may get frustrated with you and give up which is a good outcome for you. They may re-evaluate their beliefs as they are forced to express them, which is a good outcome for you. They also may see through what you are doing, in which case you can argue that you are just trying to understand. Listen, pick out details, and ask difficult questions.

If you want to troll them, then you can push them further into their beliefs. Goad them into saying crazy shit and see how far you can make them go. If they are self aware at all, they might have a moment and figure out that maybe their ideas are off the rails. If not, well, it can be a bit of fun.
