My 4th attempt at an Infographic. It's about the role that Risk plays in Gender discrepancies across hobbies, behaviors, and consumption patterns. I welcome your thoughts/suggestions/criticisms (my comments below)

this is arguably the ugliest (from an aesthetic standpoint) infographic i've made. LOL, ah well. I'm still learning.

the intention behind this one was to rebut the Feminist Answer to the question: "Why are there more male participants in (insert hobby/behavioral/consumption statistic) than female participants?"

for example, try googling "Crypto and Gender" and i kid you not: they are almost all written by feminist journalists or bloggers blaming Men/Masculinity/Patriarchy and bemoaning why there are so few women engaging in Crypto. Yes, that's right: that blockchain stuff you do anonymously on the internet? Blame men for why there's less female crypto investors.

They will never admit the actual reason: Risk.

I work with economic development (in an organisation well known for its virtuous stance on gender issues that I constantly have to ignore or work around).

One of the most striking ways this plays out is in innovative (and inherently high-risk) entrepreneurship. In several countries in the developing world, women trump men even among MINT graduates - including several conservative, Moslem ones. The labour force participation of educated women is close to that of men (they make enough money to pay for nannies). But by most metrics, they make up often less than one percent of innovative, high-risk entrepreneurs.

Trying things out to see what works is essential to keep these countries growing and offering opportunities to rise out of poverty. Risk-prone entrepreneurs that could drive this process are scarce anyway. So whatever it is that is holding back women (even if you correct for what we know about gender differences, the figure is extremely low) is damaging for society as a whole.

Meanwhile, about half of entrepreneurship programmes target women only. But the bias is towards cute stories - the woman villager in Africa weaving cute baskets that she can now sell online, say - rather than the kind of innovation that could create new sectors and large-scale opportunities for employment. Not sure how this approach has anything to do with progressivism or dismantling gender roles...
