Throwaway because I have a kid that's a redditor.

I have four kids (three boys, one girl) with the ex wife, and when the youngest turned 17, she was about to lose her child support. She sued, saying she should get paid the same room and board that colleges do when the kids are home, among a host of other things.

A little background: I've always paid more child support than I should, sometimes up to twice as much. On top of that she had this habit of dropping kids off for appointments (doctor, dentist, etc.) and then getting me to pick them up, when the bill needed to be paid. She would not take the boys to buy clothes - that was my responsibility. Also, the boys have all lived with me for significant periods of time. Lots of little things like that.

I paid for the two oldest to go to college. But when she was looking at zero child support, she decided to sue.

Long story short, the judge ordered that not only does she no longer get support, but she has to pay 1/3 of college expenses. She cried in the courtroom.

Man, I wish she would have sued years ago. Anyway, thought you all might like this.

EDIT: Lots of comments on the 1/3 payment....the kids each pay 1/3 too. Sorry I didn't make that clearer.
