title 9 isn't equality...

id recommend those involved in those programs being cut sue under title 9 to declare cheerleading a sport and to make the football scholarships and wrestling scholarships count as gender neutral scholarships.

Both wrestling and football scholarships are in fact open to women and should be treated as gender neutral scholarships under title 9.

That's nothing new. The New York Times has even written about it. If you want a brief overview of Title IX application, I found this excerpt. It seems to be pretty good.

I remember reading, in a book by John Stossel, that Brown University once cut four teams - two mens teams and two womens teams - for budget reasons. (That excerpt has a general overview of the case, but it doesn't mention the following. I don't have the book in front of me, so from here on out I'm going by memory.) Predictably the women threw a stink and sued. Brown responded by creating tons of womens teams, even for more obscure sports like fencing. But no matter how much money they threw at the problem, they couldn't get enough women interested in sports to satisfy the Title IX ratio. So their eventual solution was to cut mens teams so as to lower that half of the ratio.

Thus justice was served.

I genuinely hope all these guys transfer schools and bring all future sports prospects, including those on other male sports teams that didn't get cut, with them.

On the subject of title 9, I've heard they want to expand it to STEM programs, but I wonder, why stop there, why not expand it to the arts and humanities? 200 women vs 20 men applying for women's/gender studies majors? Sorry, 180 of you women, you are going to have to find another field, this one is full due to quotas.

Firstly, there is a campaigning group addressing precisely this issue; the American Sports Council. http://americansportscouncil.org/TitleIX/

Their website says: "We save sports programs. Members of the ASC have comprehensive, hands on experience in working with college programs threatened with termination. The ASC is the only national multi- sport coalition devoted to the preservation of collegiate and scholastic athletic teams."

Contact them, ask for their support.

Then raise a petition, and tell the administration you're approaching the national and international governing bodies of the affected sports for their support? They don't want grass-roots sport to die out. Contact FIFA in Zurich and the IBAF. Raise a stink.

The rules implementing Title IX, conjured up by the Office of Civil Rights, are outrageous. They are based on feminist fictions that women are as interested in sports as men. It is just a vehicle to redistribute resources to women, who receive the great majority of collegate resources as it is. Same thing will happen to STEM.

Its actually scandelous.

The ridiculous part about this is that it's being sold as a "budgeting" issue.

If you look at the numbers, I'll bet both men's baseball and men's soccer probably come closer to paying for themselves, as people buy tickets to go see those sports.

I doubt the same can be said about the women's tennis program.

Thank you Liberal obama for rolling back Republican Bush policies that allowed colleges to use surveys to gauge student athletic interest instead of forcing quotas on colleges that lead to mens teams being crushed.

For those that dont like me bringing that up, too fing bad I am sick of the libtard trash that I constantly see here on reddit. Democrats are constantly throwing men under the bus not that too many people here want to hear that.
