I am not surprised. We are bombarded with anti-male propaganda. Male sexuality is vilified. Of course, people started to judge men more harshly. I would have been surprised if the outcome would be different.

i feel like it makes sense if you break it down a bit

A majority of pushback to sexually progressive attitudes stems from older generations and religion which emphasised ‘Traditional’ gender stereotypes surrounding sex of the time

These outdated stereotypes are figuratively and i guess literally… ‘dying out’ as (western) societies have progressed, and those attitudes have loosened up a bit. Probably in big part due to secularisation (loss of religious influence towards public attitudes and norms)

Then for the reason why these attitudes have become more ‘gender blind’ or in some scenarios skewed against men, it could come down the the movements involved in this social change. I.e. Women have benefitted from progressive movements such as feminism, there’s not really been a direct alternative for guys

Women have had more general widespread support in criticising and opposing the sexually regressive gender stereotypes of the past, and now, sexual expression is a lot more celebrated or encouraged, possibly emphasised by the oppressive shift observed in the past

Men however don’t have a specific movement behind them, essentially just ‘tagging along’ with social change without much ‘ideologically backed’ support for sexually progressive behaviour specifically for men

this would explain why the pendulum has swung a bit too far, without having to lean on relatively flimsy conspiracies

As a human being with a functioning brain, it should be pretty much impossible not to notice how much women shame men for being sexual. If a man hits on them he’s a creep/pervert, even if he didn’t actually do anything wrong. If a man is actually successful with women, he’s a player/dog/community dick. Women will literally sit around for hours, casually shitting on men for stuff like this. I’ve seen it from pretty much every group of women I’ve ever been around. Men on the other hand typically only really call women sluts when they’re pissed. Either because she wouldn’t sleep with him or because she cheated or something. But we generally don’t just sit around talking about women like they’re lower than dirt the way they do us. I’ve never understood how people don’t see this, let alone how the popular narrative is somehow the exact opposite of reality. It literally feels like I’m in the twilight zone!
