They are college girls, near as I can tell, and don't particularly realize the "depth" to which their restrictions, even when it's just income, actually hurts their own chances of finding a life-long husband.

There's enough other data & references to pull up that have already done the math; not necessarily only considering income, but the whole "6 figures, 6 foot, 6 inches" thing. With most of them trimming down the "total number of men that fit that criteria" down to a few hundred thousand in many big cities. If they further restrict it by what men are actually available, and meet whatever other insane standards/requirements they have, a population of millions of total men is reduced down to single digits at worst, a few dozen at best.

It just reeks that the women here, by a majority of them anyway asking for 6 figures or more, are so out of touch with reality that they should be put in a mental hospital. They think they're going to land Elon Musk, while they are barely attracting Steve Buscemi.

The opinions expressed in that video are, by and large, absolutely delusional.

No doubt the video was produced to demonstrate a particular belief or viewpoint, because this is the internet, and making videos to "prove" how crazy the world is (relative to what you think it should be) is a big deal, so it should be taken with approximately the same level of salt you might expect to find in the Dead Sea.

But unless it's outright fabricated and those people were told/steered to give particular answers, those women are in for a rude awakening when they realise that hundreds of thousands per year is exceptional and, for most, completely out of touch with the average person (and cold hard reality, for that matter).

The average income per normal adult is approximately low 30 thousands, both in the US and in the UK. These women are expecting one man to make more than a dual-income household where both partners are making above average. They're going to be sorely disappointed if that's what they're expecting the rest of their lives to look like.

A lot of people will struggle to even hit that average. Many jobs - especially (but not exclusively) in the US - don't pay nearly that much, and those which do may not come with expensive luxuries like health insurance, so the reality is that even above average incomes don't necessarily translate to a comfortable life, should something unfortunate happen. Worse, if you've had a history of poor employment, even if you do finally get an average paying job, you can spend much of it trying to dig yourself out of the debt you've piled up before you could afford to pay it because you didn't have a great deal of choice.

So, in summary, yes, perhaps $100k+ is their ideal "comfortable" income, in that it would allow them to live a financially "easy" life, but it's just not going to happen for most of them. Not unless they happen to be rich and/or famous themselves, and in a social circle where everybody else is too. Anybody with a suitable grasp on real life should understand that much, and quite frankly I would expect somebody old enough to go to college to have a general gist of how people actually live, but I may be overly hopeful in expecting that.

These aren't little kids who don't know how difficult it is to come by an income measured in hundreds of thousands, or millions, they're on the verge of being part of the workforce and they should be aware of their context in society and the level of resources they're likely to see in their lifetimes. There is no dashing prince with a regal inheritance, there is no wealth startup entrepreneur, there is no investment banking tycoon. There is only $5 an hour at McDonald's. If you want more than that, you're going to need to put in the work to be better than a college student who thinks $100k+ is a reasonable expectation, and you're going to need to stumble across a massive helping of opportunity and luck along with that. It's not going to be nearly as simple as "just marry a rich guy", because he's stuck working for pennies under his corporate overlords too.

I think they didn't think about very much in life or how the world works at all.

Its a total sign of failed parenting, failed education system, failed peer groups as well as basically being completly raised in a totally sheltered life.

Ain't most of them going to get a harsh wakeup call when the bill's start coming.
