Most policies and official viewpoints in modern politics seem to be just that: politics. "Protect our young women" is politically profitable and nets votes and positive perception because, simply enough, most people are stupid.

It's the same reason the war on drugs has been an abysmal failure and massive waste on all levels but no mainstream politician ever stands against it. Just doesn't play well. Such is the state of our leadership.

As someone who supported Obama and still think he's doing a decent job on most things, I fully support the need to call him out on this disgusting plan to remove the due process of men. Now, if the GOP put up someone who isn't a fucking wackjob like Bachmann or Gingrich, I might actually consider voting for them because of shit like this.

They don't even have to lie for the accused to be innocent. Sometimes innocent people get mistaken for actual criminals. The innocence project has lots of documentation proving this. So even if you believe the stupid idea that women never lie about rape you should still be in favor of fair trials for the accused (and the whole innocent until proven guilty thing).

So what, the destruction of the lives of many men and inappropriate imprisonment of innocent men is a small price to pay to protect the rape victims that are afraid their accusations about an alleged crime will be questioned in any way, shape, or form.

Remember, it will likely be the resident director of the dorm or a pissed off girlfriend currently taking a womans studies class that reports this and it will be their testimony that is believed.

The testimony will be that she was drunk and had sex (and possibly regretted it and told her friends).

Conviction is always going to happen, this is a railroading of men, not a Kangaroo court.

If feminists are not stopped now, given our nations addiction to imprisoning men for fun and profit, this would open the flood gates of female attacks of false allegation on men with no proof required.

It would be the neutron bomb of sexual politics.

When the university professors of the UUAP are more afraid of false allegations from female students than being fired by administration for speaking up against false accusations then you know the threat is real.

I'm not at all happy with the administration's tone on this.

But in internal hearings that don't carry criminal charges and where there are civil law remedies, I'm not convinced the that all the protections we provide to criminal defendants are needed.

Take a non-gender example. A student is suspected of skipping class - the penalty would be within the school itself - I don't see a legal basis for special Miranda rights providing legal council or even confronting the accuser.

Now, if I were the kid who allegedly skipped class, I might point out that I wasn't allowed to question the snitch and that could be the basis of a subsequent suit but I don't think school inherently have all the responsibilities of courts.
