A bear is going to kill the slowest person in your hiking group, just like a rapist is going to rape the drinker person in the bar. You can't make bears stop eating people, but you can avoid them, or you can be faster than the rest of your group. Once we find a way to stop people from being sick and psycho then that won't be a truth anymore.

As a woman, I certainly know better than to drink to the point of blacking out. Of course I'm not going to tempt the fates by leaving a bag full of coin unattended in a room with people I don't know and expect everyone to be upstanding. Why would I say that it's unfair for someone to suggest I be responsible for my own personal safety? You might as well say that posters that advertise defense "anti rape" classes and mace/tasers as being evidence that it's a woman's fault that she got raped if she was unable to defend herself. It's called personal responsibility.

Feminists need to understand that taking precautions isn't blaming the victim, it is being sensible. If I wear a tuxedo and Rolex while walking around Bed-Stuy at night, I might not be responsible for myself getting mugged. Responsibility still rests squarely on the muggers. However, my own stupidity certainly was a contributing factor, and taking sensible precautions (like wearing reasonable clothing or choosing a different neighborhood to walk through) might have prevented the incident.

There's natural punishment handed out to people who endanger themselves. There's no need to punish them twice. Instead of "it's a bad idea to get drunk because you could more easily fall victim to this terrible fate" it should just say "it's a bad idea to get too drunk" and perhaps show some examples of people who got too drunk to orientate themselves of where they were, wandered into nowhere, passed out and then froze to death or died of intoxication.

Sad, eh? There are many reasons people shouldn't get drunk while they're out and about. One reason is that it can make you vulnerable or cause you to make a choice you would not otherwise make. There are other reasons - your overall safety, the health of your kidneys and liver, the fact that it's bloody expensive, etc.

It's honestly just idiotic.

I should have the right (and I do) to strut and swagger around with a t-shirt with big letters that says "Prize Fighter" on it, but I know I'm gonna attract the wrong attention, especially in some neighborhoods.

So, I don't do it. I also don't try to frame the issue in the most petulant and absurd way by arguing that it's entirely the atatcker's fault if I'm attacked. Yes, it is the attacker's fault, and yes, I could have been a lot more careful.

There are two faults here. The attacker has failed in his reponsibility not to commit crimes against other people, and have failed in my responsibility to have due regard for my own safety. I know this idea that there might be different kinds of responsiiblity will blow the feeble feminist brain, but I thought I'd put it out there, considering it's how the world actually works.

You are responsible for your own safety. It's rather telling that Feminists seem to think they aren't responsible for their own safety - the rest of the world is.

Do I have every right to walk through a bad neighborhood, yes. Do I have every right to be out until 3am, yes. However if I do all these things as once I am much more likely to get assaulted or mugged. Is it my fault? Of course not. I was not asking to be mugged. Should I have known better and avoided the situation altogether? Absolutely! Rapists and muggers are not going to give a damn about ad's telling them not to do what they do. The general public on the other hand will listen to ads telling them how to keep themselves safe.

If you're drunk and you agree to sex, it's not rape. Chances are it's not coercion, either, as the majority of people out drinking get drunk of their own volition. You put yourself into that position. It was your consent, no matter how much alcohol you drank of your own accord.

I really love how every time young women are reminded to take responsibility for their actions (not just with rape) the proponents are automatically sexist. Now I have to pay for public funded contraception, but if I utter one word about the consequences of promiscuity or single motherhood being a state of self-inflicted karma resulting from poor decisions, I MUST be a sexist. If you dont want diseases, unwanted kids, or to increase your likelihood of being raped, dont run around piss drunk dressing and acting like a skank. Being raped is not the fault of the victim but purely the crime of the rapist. However, if you knowingly ignore warnings and commit to risky behaviors, well then goddamnit you bring some of it upon yourself.

It is a scientificly proven FACT that women are less tolerant to alcohol, it takes less units of alcohol for them to get drunk, for that reason aone they should be responsible drinkers.

But when you throw in the fact that there are rapists and other nefarious sorts out to abuse/take advantage of inebriated women, being a responsible drinker is made all the more important.

Guys are also susseptible to abuse, but it's mostly violent crime like muggings and random assaults, police also put out public service announcements/ads informing men of these facts aswell, advising them on the importance of responsible alcohol intake.

Feminists though... amirite? Fucking nutcases.

Watch this i think i heard a stat on the news that violence when drunk in men has lowered by 4% and has gone up 20% in women.

The ad does not say "drink responsibly". The ad virtually says "you are not allowed to get drunk, because if you do you'll get raped and it'll be your fault for letting it happen".

I can't really think of any other situations where people are told "don't do things because you'll make yourself a victim of a criminal". When's the last time you saw an ad saying not to go outside at night, or not to move to Detroit?

We have "don't use drugs" ads, we have "don't drink and drive" ads, but I haven't seen any "don't rape people" ads... because for this one issue, the victim gets some of the blame.

Can we please stop downvoting the people who criticize the Daily Mail? It really is a bad, often misrepresenting newspaper.

So please, take everything you read from them with a even bigger grain of salt than usual.

To the topic: The posters really suck. ~~Why is it "Don't leave yourself more vulnerable to forceful sex or even rape"? Where the difference, exactly?~~ And why is it only women and only rape? Is alcohol only dangerous if you're a woman and is the only danger seriously getting raped? What about car crashes, getting robbed, starting fights, losing important stuff, drunk texting your ex, dieing in your own vomit, becoming an alcoholic etc, etc?

The campaign should have just been: Drink responsibly. and than photos of the aforementioned things, from the embarrassing, yet kinda funny things to the really horrible stuff.

Edit: It's "regretful". Why do the feminists exactly have problem with that? Is it only me, or does it more and more confused with rape by some women? Seriously, dear lurking feminists, please explain. I promise I'll upvote it.

I totally support MRM, but what I read at this poster is, "It's okay to rape a drink woman, she's to blame anyway."

It's good that these posters have been eventually removed because they supported the idea of men as irresponsible rapists, which we are to protest against here in the first place.
