It's extremely refreshing to be able to read something that hits the nail so squarely on the head. I wonder how the misandrist Dr. Nagoski would respond to this article.

I had a similar experience with percieved bigorty when I was in elementary school. Our teacher was a greek lady, and during an "Anti Bias Week" she shared with us a story where she was called "greaseball" by her peers. She explained that she felt it was very racist and hurtful to use those kind of words against her.

She had a favorite student, a greek boy in my year, who did not like me for some reaosn. So, a few days later he told her that I had called him "greaseball" on the bus. NOT TRUE.

I then got called over to her desk in our classroom, which was full of students. In front of all the kids she started screaming at me, asking if I would call another white teacher a "honky" or if I would call one of the black teachers at the school a "ni#$er." I then had a letter sent home, and my parents had to come in and discuss it with the principal.

There was absolutely nothing I could do about the situation except sit there and take it. Luckily my parents believed me and stood by me the entire time.

TL;DR - There are around 500,000 earthquakes each year. Only 100,000 of these can actually be felt.

awesome read! /r/mensrights, please find more of these! This is level-headed and non-inflammatory, something that is desperately needed.

The article is particularly notable because most have us have probably read his original one (the topic of the accusation) already. So we can really see how Nagoski took a tiny bit of language and blew it up without really thinking about it, purely reactionary.

Even the simple criticism of it being unprofessional doesn't quite hold up, since it's his blog. It's his intention to inject his own voice into the topics he writes about.

After reading that, I'm a fan of the term "pseudo-feminist", to describe the mindless attack-dogs who see an opponent and a monster in anything with a penis. >.o anyone with a big enough chip on their shoulder to go out and act like that will always become the stereotype, though. The polarized irregular is seen as the norm more often than not. Look at the "idea" of political parties and who defines them. The masses who are generally reasonable? No, the forefront is dominated by the few and far-between zealots. Feminism, sadly, is no different.

Look, is it really that gross? I guess it's kind of gross but it's not really that gross, especially if you're a scientist. Frankly, reading the rest of his column about what specific fluids gross him out is, er, kind of gross.

Maybe because he is gay, but most straight men basically have to get over their fear of female sexual juices if they're going to enjoy themselves, you know? In particular for a lot of women their sexual juices are an important part of being turned on. So you'll have some women talk about "being wet" or go on to describe the state of their vaginas in detail when they're horny.

The fact is, men being grossed out by "lady juices" is actually feminists complain about on feminist blogs a lot. They don't like the idea that men think vaginas are disgusting and actually do consider it misogyny.

This guy seems totally unaware of that, and just calls this woman stupid, etc. As someone without much experience with hetrosexual sex, he sounds like a 6th grader who still thinks women have cooties or something.

Good to see misandry getting highlighted at Scientific American.

I commented with the following: You got one thing wrong - that any feminists are "good" feminists. Feminism necessarily assumes women were oppressed and men were the oppressors, but this is categorically false. All feminists are misandrists, whether bluntly or subtly so. And all men and women who sit idly by while feminism's misandry destroys society are as culpable as the most radical of feminists.

That's downright embarrassing for Scientific American. Even by the looser standards of online blogs "stuff it up that hole of yours" isn't exactly appropriate for a leading publication. Jesse really needed a friend or editor to tell him to put the issue out of his mind, go home, and tackle it again the following day when he's not so emotional about it.

And as a poster pointed out, a 2426 word rebuttal for a 308 word blog post is overkill. A little brevity and humor would have gone a long way. Something like:

While Scientific American has no official policy on bodily ejections the author finds both male and female expulsions to be equally queasy. Any confusion on this important subject is regretted.

If they actually go so far as to call themselves "feminist", they're already crazy. That's the main reason everyone thinks all feminists are as fucked up as the lady the article was ranting about. The people who are fighting for women's rights and actually making progress aren't the ones writing blogs and accusing random strangers of hating women. In fact, even if he DID hate women, anybody with more than two brain cells would know that staying up all night thinking of a clever joke about mucous just to insult him isn't going to do anything in terms of further securing womankind's footing in humanity. That just makes women like her look fucking stupid and petty. The kind who go to girls-only cocktail parties, standing around agreeing with each other about how men are the worst thing to ever happen to this planet, secretly hating themselves inside knowing they'll die childless virgins.
