This article is spot on, I've said something similar to this before, but this guy (who is Iranian) did a way better job than me.

It's sad reading some of the comments here: "for any blue-pill readers out there, before your reflexive defensive outburst impairs your judgment and reduces you to a shrill screaming feminist or white knight, crying “women’s issues in Iran!”: let me clarify"

People don't know that Islamic law is hardcore traditionalist, it does not treat men and women as equal, but when comparing, men have it way worse when it comes to rights and responsibilities, read the article in full to understand.

-Men have no custody rights.

-Men have to provide for their spouse.

-Men have to pay child support.

-Men have to provide residence.

None of that is an obligation for women (even if they work), but as always when discussing such issues, it's always women most affected because they get half inheritance.

Edit: The only legitimate criticism someone might have, is that women are not in the workforce, but that is gonna change as fast as it happened in the west, but then these archaic traditionalist laws are gonna stay to advantage women.

i went through a sharia family court myself ,what I learnt

fathers are not recognized as primary carers( i was at home dad)
mothers get automatic custody, if you manage to prove they are un-Islamic( the only way to remove custody even if the mother abuses the child) it then moves to the next female in the mothers family and you rinse and repeat)
men( fathers) are not recognised as victims of domestic violence( and this is the dirty secret in islam), neither are women recognised as perpetrators.
men must provide( not just residence , but everything) regardless and can be divorced on this ground alone( DV has one aspect in which a person can deny their partner the right to work).
probably the most galling of all as i found out from my lawyer. the "judge" is a man of religion not education, meaning no education in law, no legal training etc in fact the lawyers have far more education and training and have to acquire a licence to practice sharia law...

you can also look up girl who writes what who explained a lot behind this.

sharia law has now taken on elements of feminism ( maybe due to pressure from the west).

Men definitely have it bad in dictatorships which try to run on outdated 8th century rules. The economy goes to the gutters and everyone suffers due to it. rigid gender roles don't help anybody. One should have the freedom to do what they want despite of their gender and the government should stay away from morally policing what they think is the right morality.
JUST BECAUSE MEN ARE OPPRESSED, IT DOESN'T MEAN WOMEN AREN'T OPPRESSED. THEY ARE NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE.
