When I was in college, around 2006, I met this girl, let's call her Jen. We had been casually "dating" I guess you could say, but there had never been the talk about wanting to be more than friends with benefits, and she was the main one making that clear. One night, I was being typical society-approved male and was walking her home from my fraternity to her dorm room. When we arrived, I told her I had a good night and that I'll call her tomorrow. She responded:

"You're not staying with me?"

I said, "My cousin is up and staying with me in my dorm room, I can't just give her no place to sleep." (This is true, my cousin was staying with me)

At this point, she started screaming at me, calling me all sorts of names. Across the street was a bar with various bouncers who obviously started to draw interest to our situation. I immediately knew that this could be a very bad situation, as any average joe on the street would probably be suspecting me of doing something wrong. I kept telling her I needed to go, at which point she called me a bastard and cocked back and punched me square in the face. Let me say, this girl was NOT fat, but she was easily 5'10" 140-150lbs. Needless to say, it was a legit punch. Instantaneous rage coursed through my body, and I immediately collected myself enough to look at her with digust, spit on the ground, punch the window to her dormitory and say to her:

"You're fucking lucky you're not a guy."

And I walked home.

If that was a guy, I'm not sitting here saying that I would be absolute victor, but you can be damned sure I would have slammed him in the face and fought it out. But because she was a female, she has complete freedom to slap, smack, punch or kick me in public, and no one will ever question it. If it was the reverse, you can bet your sweet ass I would be hauled away faster than you can say double-standard.

Looking back, that was when things really began to dawn on me that something was seriously flawed with the system.

Do any of you have similar stories?

EDIT: I don't understand why I'm getting downvotes... isn't this kind of thing exactly what this movement is trying to correct?

EDIT 2: Thanks for the explanation, I wasn't aware of the bots.
