NOTE: As Layla Moran is running for leadership in the 2020, I hope this case really resurfaces (it should do with even a tiny push). This little saga I describe below really is the perfect case if you want to talk about male and female DV as it covers every angle and even includes polticians and workplace treatment of DV. It really has everything, watch the vid and you will see.

Video does a fantastic job, and I would suggest you watch it for a full break down. It includes real newpaper headlines, real tweets and real statements by party leaders and other politicians. Ally Foggs twtter response is fantastic explanation of the problem with this, just watch that if you dont have time.

Sarah Champion who accepted a caution for hitting her husband with a painting later went on to serve as shadow minister for domestic violence!

Layla Moran is running for laedership for the Liberal Democrats and hit her patner for which she was charged, she admitted to but the case was not pursued.

The issue in both cases is not so much what happened but the public and professional reaction. Both politicians were widely PRAISED for being brave and coming out. Called courageous, brave, even inspirational repeatdly. Even the labour LEADER J. Corbyn singled her out and prasied her at an event. This is utter contrast to male MPs (mentioed in video) with lesser offenses who were forced to resign.

Layla Morgan is also an extreme form of victim blaming, she fully admits she was in the wrong and the only violent one but when she made it public (to try and jump the gun as it was going to be made public) she said she hit her patner "as she felt threatened" and called it "not OUR finest hour" - somthing an ex police officer called out a classic victim blaming... Ally Fogg's small twitter letter is a fantastic reposne to the situation (inlcuded in video)

When women commit crimes, the response, while yes hypocrtical, is actually often sensible and needs to be applied to men... ignore the peple praising her, if we look at what Karen Straughan (legendary anti feminist) said, which is what is same as Erin Pizzey sees DV is that this should be treated as a interpersonal issue that needs counselling - some violence was used, police where called, and it desecalted... it is not a matter for criminal justice - this appraoach would of course drastically reduce DV arounf the world... however, feminists have specally created a false narrattive that all DV is patricahal in nature and due to misogny (the voice of reason Erin Pizzey is saying no it isn't, its mainly a couples issues inovlving violence and provocation from both sides, and often invlolves people who have been abused earlier not able to cope and self manage so needs a counselling approach)

BTW, maybe someone can link, an equally hypocritical approach is when a very prominent and powerful feminist academic got a Metoo allegation... instead of the Metoo response she actually got massive feminsits support saying we need due process, its two sides etc and she even get letters of support from hundreds of femnists. The letter was actually really classic victim blaming. What Christina Hoff Sommers said about this case (she was highlighting the hypocrisy of feminsits in this amazing video with Camille Paglia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iv7LvRhvgNI) was she read the account of the victim and was horriefied and enraged at the feminsit accused, but then she read the account of the feminists accused, and saw her side... and CHS said you know what, thats what due process and trials are for!!
