Hi y'all.

A very important part of any social movement like this is generating discussion. Hopefully my term paper for a class I took last semester will help in some small way.

I think my term paper stands as a halfway decent cursory review of the literature and statistics relevant to the gender disparity in custodial parents following a divorce, although I have no delusions that it is anywhere near perfect.

I took a class called "Social Welfare Policy" last semester, and I wrote my term paper about the gender difference we see in child custody cases, its causes, and potentially better alternatives to the status quo. I figure I might as well post it here; hopefully the information in my term paper is helpful to anybody else discussing similar topics. If anything, please give the Works Cited page a look (page 20), since I really think some of the sources are very helpful for anyone discussing this topic.

Also, during the research for this paper, I came across Webster Watnik's 2002 book Child Custody Made Simple; I think anyone, man or woman, going through a situation where child custody decisions will need to be made should consider reading this book. It's really good.
