Men were the protectors and laborers- women, their reproductive capacity makes them more valuable in the long term for men. This has led to a societal codes split between the sexes with regard to violence as well as more leniency toward bad behavior. There is perhaps a biological element as well, where women are seen as less dangerous and younger women are put on a pedestal because of their sexiness.

No doubt this older woman, unacquainted with being talked to in such a forward manner by a man, reacted as she did as a natural response to a deviation from the chivalrous norm.

Former Chef here; She is clearly complaing about the hours, and how tired she is. Well, that is the way it is. Take it or leave it, it is a tough occupation. I think this demonstrates why there are more Male chefs than female. Not matter how tired you are, that is never a reason to try to smack someone.

It's called keeping your shit together, and it's not exclusive to either gender, you see blessedly few women in situations keeping their shit together.

It's also worth noting that there were cameras and this was FAR, FAR from a normal situation. So before you loose your shit over this woman interacting with Gordon Ramsey, it's worth noting that demographic surveys show that the good chef needs a bit of an public relations fixup himself, as he is widely regarded as pretty demeaning and hostile.

So if you want to be pissed - be pissed at the producers - but everyone loses their shit at different times and it's not acceptable either way.

But in Hollywoodland,..it's all good entertainment ... right.
