Crosspost "Hijab is fard, but to wear is optional" from /r/Hijabis:

I’ve always had a hard time explaining my feelings about hijab, but I just saw this video on youtube where she touches on when influencers take hijab off. I don’t know much about social media so don’t care about that part. But something she said in particular, really resonated with me:

Hijab is fard but to wear it is a choice. Humans are given free will in all their actions. We either obey Allah, or we disobey Allah. Allah has commanded us to obey him and be rewarded, but has given us the free will to not do so and be punished. And that’s the entire point of everything. If we had no free will, it wouldn’t be a choice, and there would be no reward.

I’ve finally found my answer to when people become haram police and start harassing random sisters that hijab is obligatory when no one asked.

Also, she mentions that no scholar has said that if a woman doesn’t wear the hijab, she goes straight to hell. Thoughts? Obviously, there are different ways to gain hassanat and try to enter jannah.
