I obviously don't know what you look like or where you live, but from where I'm standing, a lot of broke artists and musicians who look like literal street rats get plenty of girls.

That being said, these girls are primarily drawn from a couple specific demographics- girls who rock piercings and dyed hair, girls with untreated mental illness, girls who are addicted to at least one substance, and girls who have more than one of the aforementioned traits.

I spent my teenage years and early twenties around artists and theater people. My experience is completely different than yours. Especially if you’re interested in other artists and aren’t afraid to compete and collaborate (because confidence and ambition are attractive), you should be having all the sex you might possibly want.

You not getting women doesn't mean that all artists don't get women.

Most artists survive by having a partner take care of their freeloading asses. Most men and women have dated a starving artist and supported them for a period of time.

Being an artist, doesn't automatically mean lacking social skills and the ability to enter into romantic relationships. Most artists are charming and sociable people. They're required to be, in order to sell, network, and promote their work.

Nobody is really turned on by someone making art, but the artistic crowd does tend to sleep around a lot just because everyone is a lot more open to it. I don't know if you hang around in artistic circles, but if you do, you may be the exception. Hobbies and career tend to matter to romantic interests mainly if they're something in common, or something the other person wants to try. "Art" isn't a personality trait so your point about personality not nattering is irrelevant, espresso as you don't seem to have even a stereotypical artist personality (which is fine, neither do I).

Tall, good looking artists are extremely successful with women. They also get a pass for being too skinny, and can get away with being broke. Ugly, short artists are invisible, and don't get any pass of any kind.

As for personality, looks and social status pretty much cover that. The higher you are in those categories, the better your "personality" will appear to the majority of women (and a large chunk of men, specially celebrity worshipping boomers).

If you're not getting girls, it's really down to your looks. Prestige can cover it a bit, but it boils down to looks for most artists.

I've known women who are into artist types even if those guys aren't making a lot of money. A guy like this isn't going to get a lot of women like an athlete would, but he's probably going to get some interest from the niche of women who are into this type of guy.

status matters- but status is very flexible and dynamic. you dont need to be 1% worldwide - just be good in your local community.

Artists in artist school or some equivalent college are getting laid just fine.

You need to keep in mind that a lot of male artists are rich because they have a huge safety net to even consider that field to begin with. The ones who aren’t rich can blend in just fine until after graduation, and the bright side is that most women who date these men are actually in it for the love.

The women who chase the doctor/lawyer/engineer/finance guys are typically the biggest snakes, compared to the women who date the artist knowing that fact.

Depends on the type of girl. Alternative girls are still very much suckers for the philosophical "starving artist" with a guitar. Musicians are definitely one of my biggest weaknesses, and I'm not talking about celebrities.

Of course, your character has to be pleasant as well.

As an artist you will do better than an engineer just because of the gender ratio in these types of environments. However, whatever media perception people have of artists as extroverts, etc. lacks merit.

You are so on! I'm a music professor and used to be in so many bands and did a lot of studio gigs.
The only guys who ever got any attention were the tall ones in the popular bands.

Women genuinely refused to even acknowledge men in unknown bands. Even more strange it didn't matter your position in band or how good you were, just how attractive.

The whole scene opened my eyes to women.

Art careers require you to the absolute best talent, most prolific and dedicated compared to your peers. The money and fame follow. Picasso painted hundreds of paintings every year. Sure, a few artist hit it big early but most don't.

There is an unlimited amount of talent creating art. I've painted several hundred paintings. Sold many during and after college but now just give them to friends and relatives. When I retire I'll pick it up again.

I wanted a family and traditional life. I chose to use my talents in the applied arts. My wife still thinks of my art as something she is very proud of and gives her that "chose well" felling. However, when I screw up or talk about science (part of my career), I'm "just an art student".

If you just want hook ups I guess you can play artist like one of my nephews. If you want to build a life you need be successful and meet high expectations.

For women it is a different story with completely different options.

If you're just an artist no shit. IME the best demo for artists is going to be bland vanilla girls who want excitement and attention and you gotta work that game. Draw them like Titanic. Make some flowery metaphor. Tell a weird story about the art world. Having a weed hookup helps even if they don't smoke because you're playing a role.

Being a cool artist who gets girls has nothing to do with being an artist who is professionally successful. Thats like you saying girls don't like musicians because you're in a marching band full time with no bitches when girls want a dude with long hair and a shitty tattoo who'll sing a slightly off key song about how in love he is.

No they aren’t guaranteed to get you more attention from ladies but it’s undeniable that women love when guys can express themselves creatively.

You choose the bad aspect of art to get women; women are atracted by actors(looks), singers and musicians (perform to great audiences, grap attention of every girl so it's basically filter itself).

No you’re not going to get tons of beautiful women chasing you unless you’re rich and famous, period. However, any man who has a talent or hobby that is something most women have some level of interest in, is more attractive than one who doesn’t. For one thing, it’s an easy conversation starter. And being passionate about anything is always attractive. Stop comparing yourself to rich famous people and start comparing yourself to men who don’t really have any interesting talents or hobbies.

Also, don’t underestimate the importance of getting out. Your art can be a great conversation starter and connect you to other people. But if you’re a hermit, it doesn’t matter.

if youre a painter or a live canvas artist, they absoltely do find interest. If youre a deviantart, digital art wacom bound digital illustrator, no they wont as it doesnt have the glamorous bohemian feel of the typical traditionnal artist.

This isn't necessarily true. I read that women will give starving artists a chance if they think they have potential to succeed at some point.

This goes back to women being able to innately tell which men are going to be successful in life and which ones aren't.

I forget where I read this, but it's definitely true. Obviously, if the artist never materializes, then yes he's going to get left but some of these guys pan out later on in life.

yes. i am a commercial artist who makes all my money through art. male artists are not attractive by and large. they give me the ick. they all have a victim complex and center themselves vs their art. I don't like it. I vastly prefer to consume art made by women and I don't want to date a baby who constantly complains that his art isn't appreciated and makes digs at me being able to support myself through commercial work (what dating a male artist is like).

I say this as a middle-aged illustrator/ ex game artist.

It’s not true that artists don’t get girls unless they’re rich and famous. I’ve attended more than a few of my artist friends’ weddings, and they’re far from rich and famous. It’s a job like any other job.

Both the stereotypes of a nerdy basement-dwelling virgin comic book artist and a rockstar sculptor with a French accent seducing rich housewives exists in media. Just as there is the boogeyman of a gold-digging clout-chasing tiktoker Stacey selling feet pics in incel communities. It’s not that these people don’t exist irl, but that real artists aren’t a monolith. And so too women.

Congrats on your career. Don’t worry too much about getting into a relationship. Don’t worry about money or fame. Focus on what art means to you. Join a sketchcrawl, figure drawing club or charity art event. I’ve seen a lot of my artist friends collaborate on projects and end up coupled up. Making art that can make a positive impact on the world is much easier and a lot more fun when you’re not alone.
