This post is off the back of a very foolish conversation about the "dangers" of approaching women in real life an extreme consequences a man can face.

The common idea around here is that approaching women is as dangerous as trying to move several kilos of cocaine across the Pacific Ocean. That men who talk to women politely and accept rejections gracefully can still "get arrested" if she calls the police.

The real truth is just some dudes are shy and some like to hamster reasons to avoid the sting of rejection.

In THIS THREAD, a user tried to convince me that you actually can get arrested, citing this new proposed law as an example:

The addy a game arrest was pure fiction, then, huh. Sure, the conviction was quashed on appeal, but the expense and enormous detriment to his life at the time (he was also placed on the sex offender’s register). He wasn’t really doing anything over and above what day game coaches advocated on youtube>>Also this theguardian.com/world/2021/dec/04/public-sexual-harassment-could-become-criminal-offence-in-england-and-wales

The article cited goes on to mention...

Making lewd comments, pressing against someone in a sexual way on public transport, cornering someone, catcalling and persistent sexual propositioning could all be covered by the changes to the law if they are brought in.

…this is not how you’re meant to approach women. That is not what "approaching in real life" looks like. This is obvious harassment.

The user then wanted to use an example of Scottish Pick-Up-Artist's arrest as proof that it already happened.

From the article...

One clip included audio of a woman apparently recorded during sex.

The trial heard how Ahmed approached two schoolgirls in a secluded lane in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, in 2016, when they were aged 16 and 17.

Another woman broke down in court as she described how Ahmed followed her through Glasgow city centre and grabbed her head as he tried to kiss her.

Surprise, surprise. Blatant inappropriate behaviour. Turns out if you act like an actual fucking creep then yeah, you could get arrested.

IRL approaching (which is more than just cold approach) is the most common form of approaching. Being polite and gracious while you do it is not that hard. But if you're too scared to, say that. Don't invent some exaggerated boogeyman to hide from.
