Had this conversation with the boys, a little ego boosting if you will.

I've had a girl take a 2h bus ride to come see me. Loads of dudes have girls come over at odd hours of the night or after a long work day over a text to "cuddle". One of my friends had a girl fly over from the next province / state over to surprise him -- they weren't even dating.

Rich dudes fly girls over all the time. If it's little to no investment from you, why wouldn't you?

So, as someone who has done some spontaneous things on this end — some of which backfired badly, others of which worked out — and is about to do so again shortly, here’s my honest advice.

It can be fun. It can work out, but it usually won’t. The key is that you have to go in with near-zero expectations, and treat it like an adventure with as little investment in the outcome as you can manage.

Your vibe has to basically be “we’ll see when we get there, but I’ll be open to whatever happens.” Otherwise you can end up paying a lot of money to wind up very miserable and disappointed.

(BTW this is all assuming that everyone involved is on board and there’s no weird stalker shit going on — like how every now and again there’s some story in the media like ‘I saw this person in the background of my photo and knew they were my soulmate and so i’m crowdsourcing their identity.’ If it’s something like that, DO NOT fly halfway around the world to find them.)

Me ex flew across the world to spend two weeks with me after a year of talking and flirting. We had briefly met in person when I was a kid and visited his country

Two weeks were amazing then I ended up visiting him for two weeks and then eventually moving across the world to be with him

5 years in a ltr later it didn’t work out but I’m grateful it was the best thing for me

Personally, I wouldn't travel more than 30 minutes to go on a date/ or hookup with someone. I have known guys that will fly from the northern Midwest, to Florida, or CA to hook up with a woman. Or take them on a lavish vacation to hookup with them. I would never, I think it wreaks of of desperation.

P.s. to any guy that buys nudes from women, or sub to their OF as a way to get their attention. They're never gonna date, or hookup with you. They think your gross and pathetic, because you have to pay to get nudes. Instead of being able to get them for free.

I have flown out for sex before, wasn't having any luck with women around me, but I knew one in a different country that had a crush on me, so I flew to see her every couple of months for around 2 years.

If you want to, sure. I've done things like that, and considered it more often. Have yourself a little adventure. My only advice is that if you do, try to enjoy the whole experience, not just fixate on one acceptable outcome, to make it "worth it."

I don't think that men should do it unless they've had video confirmation that the person that they are seeing is the person who they've been chatting with, and unless there has been online "sexual activity" before going to visit. Then there's more likely a chance that she'll actually be attracted once meeting in person.

I suppose if that person lives in a place that one really wanted to visit anyway, then if it didn't work out then that guy could still try to meet other women while he is there, though, or to just tour around, as you've said.

I guess it happens I know a guy years ago who flew out 2 American girls to visit him after chatting with them online. Also a friend if mine from Chile met a guy from France on holiday in Spain. They had a had a holiday romance and then kept in touch online. He flew out to visit her 6 months after in Chile and she was so floored that he made all that effort just to see her she knew that he was a keeper they are now married with two kids.

Granted there are people who do crazy things just to get attention from someone they are attracted to, so chances are they will do crazy things to meet or have sex with someone. Usually its the fog in the mind that makes them do these things but after a certain amount of time they calm down.

I have had a few one night stands of me driving to the man. When I say few I mean two lol, and it was the best sex of my life. It was adventurous, but I knew it wasn’t anything serious. Made it more fun.

I personally wouldn’t fly over to visit a stranger not even a boyfriend. It’s stressful and you might regret it anyway. Knowing how some guys boast abilities and fail to deliver, I would rather keep myself at home 😂

I would say in my case, I’ve had guys that would want to travel hours just to meet me. I find it a bit crazy although I am not forcing them 😭 I’ve had friends who would say they’re home and guys would drive to them at anytime no matter the distance just to try and get some.

I’ve done this with success. That said - I had met them in person but nothing physical had ever developed. It’s only later when we weren’t in person that we talked on the phone and video chat that we were like, “oh we both like each other. We should see one another in person again.”

So we did and went traveling together and all that too.

Worth it. I did this and flew out to another continent to meet since we were chatting online. We had a good vacation, continued to talk, but eventually it didn't work out because the relationship wasn't strong enough for the distance.

It's something you could definitely make work if you both want it

I have, and I’ve had people do the same for me. All I can say is, make sure the other person is matching your energy and enthusiasm before spending a ton of money and time traveling back and forth to see them. Most of the time, one of us was a lot more invested than the other. Either I made a big effort to come see them and they weren’t that thrilled to see me once I got there, or vice versa. So I personally won’t do that kind of thing anymore, at least not on my own dime.
