Well, since this forum revolves around the discussions on TRP, and since a good chunk of the user base on TRP consists of incels, I think it'd be a disservice to censor the incel content outright. There's a reason why many of these guys are going to TRP in droves (they really have no where else to turn to talk about these things) and since TRP has little tolerance to hear incels (all they're told is 'quit whining faggot and go lift'), PPD can be a good place for some of these guys to hear other opinions without being tainted by the anger/bitterness of TRP.

That being said, they do tend to get very circlejerky and like others have pointed out many of them don't seem to be open to actually listening and consider what others are telling them about their incel situation.

So an outright ban on incel content would be a bad move I think, perhaps there should be certain rules when posting incel content? for example the author of an incel post would be required to give real feedback on the answers they receive? similar to a CMV, if they're just blowing hot-air without offering any substance worthy of discussion then that particular post should be removed, if they're just expecting this to be a incel-echo chamber then yes it should be removed. The incels should be reminded that while they can talk here, they need to be willing to actually hear people out and not be angry all the time.

I hope the mods can come up with a reasonable solution.

It is not proposed to censor by banning; it is proposed to censor by deletion.

It is not proposed for the haters of incel posts to try ignoring the posts they dislike. That is off the table for some reason.

I see that for whatever reason a large number of PPD readers have got their panties in a bunch over unpopular speech, and steadfastly refuse the intelligent, adult course of "live and let live".

We can help these guys out without censorship. We can require incel posts to carry clear flair. That solves the problem for every sane hater. You see a thread with an "incel post" flair, you say "oooh! There's the thing I hate so passionately I can't stand to allow other people to read them. I resolve to refrain from clicking on it"

That is the easiest solution possible. It's less work for mods, it's fairer for the incels which I am not, BTW and for those of us who take an interest and understand that an incel post is interesting data for some people.

The error here is obvious in the very thread title. Do we "like" so-and-so type of post. Is that really the fucking criteria? What we fucking like???

Well let's delete all the pill stuff and just have links to bikini models and cat videos. If we're not involving any amount of intellectual curiosity in our decision-making processes.

I am here out of intellectual curiosity. I'm not here to see shit I like. I'm here to understand how the world works. All data is welcome to me. No exclusions. I am not here to be entertained.

I don't particularly like them because they tend to be repetitive. It feels like a lot of the incel threads are just covering the same ground again and again and again. I wouldn't mind posts that used the concept of inceldom to spark off discussion about other related topics, but I feel like most of them are just the same thread with different titles.

My opinion could be coloured by the fact that I've been posting on this sub off and on for a while now though, since that means I'm more likely to notice and thus get irritated when there's a trend towards certain topics over time, so if most people enjoy them I can live with just continuing to ignore them.

If you don't want to talk about incels in the context of TRP, I can't even fathom how your brain works.

It's so utterly integral to why TRP exists. All pills owe their existence to incels. TRP has maybe 200 subscribers who didn't join because of being an incel.

If some people hate it, we need to split the subreddit. I do not expect the non-incel subreddit to flourish.

In a forum, people can post whatever they please. If your participate in a community that pretty obviously is going to naturally trend towards a high incel population, it's not their job to amend their desired topics of conversation; it's yours to either leave, or add something of value other people want to talk about instead.

If people don't like it, they should post questions themselves about whatever topic they find more interesting.

If you cannot handle a Reddit forum in which people ask questions you find repetitive, kill yourself now because life gets a lot harder than this.

If you really feel something has to be done about it that badly, I'd suggest just making weekly topics so every now and then, different groups can spend a week winging about whatever topics they care about.

No, the incel posts are generally marginal from a debate perspective, and I would support a moratorium for a couple weeks. For example, somebody will ask for advice for incels, then people will try to give some advice (mostly bad, because we don't have enough information on their looks or personality), then a whole bunch of incels will start getting upset about the advice, because nobody could ever understand how bad they have it.

My gut feeling is that if the mods take a hands-off policy, there's a real risk that this will become IncelDebate. And so far, the incel threads are most angry venting and lower-effort content.
