You can't see personality across the room.

It's like the "hawt girl" syndrome, you'll put up with far more shit if someone is attractive than with someone who isn't.

So if you're attracted, you'll put up with a ton of shit. Because everyone is shallow.

I think that we all value attraction over personality. You want to be with somebody you can have sex with without feeling sick, right? Or better yet, somebody you are happy to be having sex with in comparison to everybody else you could have chosen.

I think that a lot of men are mislead by when women talk about preferring one guy over another for his personality, dismissing that looks mattered. It leads to a lot of men thinking that they can win women over with effort, which isn't true. If she didn't see a future with you before, no amount of effort will change her mind. It's just sad, really.

For most people, physical attraction is a primer to get to know someone. Personality is what sustains the long term.

Tall Girl was widely mocked for that reason. When I saw the trailer I thought it was the dumbest bullshit ever and nobody, not even tall guys, took that movie seriously.

It's proportional. If you're good looking, your personality doesn't have to be as good. If you're not good looking but you've got confidence, charisma and humour then that will compensate. I think there are far more people who are reasonably good lookiing than there are people with personalities that stand out so much that their looks are almost irrelevant.I don't know why anyone thinks looks don't matter for women, or who chastise them for valuing looks when men value the same thing? Honestly, we're not that different.

I'm kinda torn about which particular wrong in your post I should correct.

I guess I start with the low-hanging fruit of you treating affection and attraction as mechanical reward you should be obliged to. Your post betrays this entitlement in a couple of places, like simp putting in more effort. Knowing the girl should come with affection popped in at two places in your post.

That's a particularly nasty syndrome also know as being a Nice Guy.

Then there's this curious case of sexism, as the male falling for female unrequited is accepted as normal, but female falling for male is seen as a troublesome. I don't really know what to make of it, but it seems you are applying very particular double stardands to men and women.

But for what it's worth, you didn't say anything absurdly stupid. Your post simply is riddled with small red'ish flags which hint at a huge red flag underneath, but I can't really be sure it's there.
