I mean, young people in general are unhappier than they've ever been across all categories, including work/jobs, finances and the prospect of taking on a lot of debt to finance education, health (especially mental health), academic pressure, lack of human interaction, lack of sleep. In a lot of ways, I think people growing up today are under far more pressure than people who were coming of age even 20 years ago. The uncertainty young adults face when trying to establish themselves is really taking a toll on an entire generation's mental health. At some point, you have to ask why so many people feel like they are being set up for failure. I think a lot of struggling with dating has to do with the commodification of the social landscape and of human lives and relationships, but that trend is really consistent even in other matters.

Yes. And all is due to education. When I talk about education, I mean school, home and tv. People are taught since young ages to be selfish. Only their opinion and pleasure matters. That they can step on others and that’s not a problem. and this leads to a dysfuncional society where everyone is always thinking of what they gain by doing something and lowers people’s morals. lets be honest. nowadays who in the younger generation has morals? Almost no one. Everyone cheats on everyone. Everyone steps on everyone when they can get away with hit And I will bet that they just don’t murder other people because they dont want to go to jail. But hey nothing is going to change , in fact, IMO it will only get worse.

I think women in general and the majority of men are, yes. The top percentage of men are probably becoming way happier and more satisfied.

Young people seem generally pissed about everything—and for good reason! We left them a pretty crappy world and little hope for financial independence. It’s kinda hard to pick out the sex-and-relationship needle out of that haystack of global trash.

It’s hard not to be neurotic when we have commodified outrage and fear to a degree never before seen.

Add to that the ability for people addicted to those things to live in echo chambers that feed them in perpetuity and you are basically guaranteed a generation of maladjusted narcissists.

This generation has not been tested in any meaningful way.

The last truly ominous threat felt to the extent it woke anybody up was 9/11 and before that the Cold War.

Even those paled in terms of actual hardship compared to Vietnam, Korea and the world wars.

People have moved on from fighting for basic civil rights like drinking out of the same fountain to obsessing about “micro aggressions” and policing comedians.

Even the pandemic didn’t really jolt people into any sense of civic duty. Half the US took to sniveling about how they didn’t want to wear masks and don’t believe in vaccines.

Everybody is so up their own asses and immersed in their own pet causes that the fabric of society will continue to unravel until something happens that forces the generation to confront real actual problems or go they will wither away and be replaced by another more organized cohesive culture (looking like China at this point but who knows)

Yes.

Because the market oriented approach to dating has revealed a lot of ugliness.

However I believe the market will correct itself in due time and people with prioritize the correct qualities in their partners (character) in the long run.

Will I live to see it? Probably not.

For most of history there are immaterial variables (usually, but not always, some flavor of religion or spiritualism) to temper the materialism of mankind. However, for the first time a growing number of world population (especially in developed countries & regions) do not have these immaterial variables to fill that irrational void within.

Humanity has effectively become too rationalized, for it was never a truly rational creature to began with.

Western civilization is in a steep decline and is trending to continue that decline further. I suspect within the next decade or two there will be more of a necessity to team up simply to survive. Inflation is coming. Wages aren’t increasing. Housing is booming. Middle class is shrinking. Wealth is being transferred to the rich more than any other time. Single life isn’t what it was where most can go out and party all of the time and enjoy life. Single life now or in the near furniture will be boring unless you’re making good money.

Yeah, it's a shitty world that will only get shittier, and most people don't give AF beyond being consumers.

It's basically a downward spiral of consuming, getting fucked out of opportunities via the diminishing of the middle class, and engaging in toxic and skewed social media that warps reality and expectations. Sprinkle that with a hefty portion of anxiety et voila!

Women are also increasingly more terrible, uninteresting and shallow, which is evident to everyone with OLD and an Instagram.

I think young people are depressed and lonely. Loneliness is endemic. We're just so overstimulated by the world and it's unnatural to the human condition to have all the luxuries we do. Big part being the internet.

Definitely so. Studies show young people date way less and have less sex. The sex they so have is skewed more to casual over relationship which is way less fullfilling. On top of that we now also compare ourself with social media which makes it even worse.

Things are not clicking at all, as a woman I feel all my options are restricted severely where love is concerned. So I have had to give up a-lot of things I thought i wanted ( no not chad thundercock).

The difference from now and the past is that normal average people have platforms to voice their miseries. In the past, their opinion hardly mattered at all and only the deeds of the elite were recorded for the most part.

Even not so far back as a few generations ago, what people did to each other and just sucked up in silence.. it is much better now

There are no solutions because there are no problems. The adjustments may be individually painful and people may off themselves in mass, but that is what happens.
