Height in OLD is oddly enough like height for NBA players. On paper, without seeing someone in person, evaluators are always going to overindex on stats like height.

In OLD women are essentially trying to scout the best dating prospects with limited information. That's what makes it so difficult for men with suboptimal height - logistically the process favors the Mo Bambas, and doesn't allow the PJ Tuckers to demonstrate the value they bring that's not evident from their physical stats.

For the sake of being fair, in my experience women rarely pay for OLD premium features. They don't have to.

But even if it was a free feature I'd expect the distribution to be fairly similar. Men under 6ft would still be excluded by anywhere from 1/2 to ~2/3rds of women.

Kind of funny women on ppd are always saying men overplay the importance of height, and then when presented with a myriad of empirical evidence from studies illustrating otherwise, they have nothing to say.

If you're a shorter guy, just don't OLD. You're likely heavily filtered out before the game even starts. You can have success elsewhere. I'm 5'7", nothing special to look at, and just make average money. But I had an amazing first date just last night with a beautiful girl at least 2 inches taller than me. If a guy like me can consistently meet women and get dates, it's not impossible for the majority of us.

You can’t extrapolate the data because the issue here is that, among those who think height is so important that all people below a certain height should be automatically be filtered out of the pool of eligible dates, being over six feet is obviously disproportionately important.

I'm 172cm and objectively rated by women and ai as average. Just downloaded bumble two weeks ago and gotten 4 dates and a 5 upcoming. All these while having my height set to 172cm.

I think it's because it's high season to land a bf before the lonely Stockholm winters. But also this time I've actually made an effort to make every picture count.

Either way I think a lot of women do prefer a man taller then themselves but on average 5’9” - 5’11” I don’t see having that much of a disadvantage IRL it’s hard to gauge OLD with what works out in the wild. It’s really 5’5” or shorter where height starts to really be a detriment.

I mean technically, men of all ages are looking for women 22 and under according to some similar dating site stats. And yet, is it over for women at 23? Hardly.

The main problem with these stats is that only women with a strong height preference are going to put any preference at all. For example, I sorta prefer men I date to be over 5’8” or so, but have dated shorter and much taller and really just don’t care enough to put it in a dating profile.

Yeah, but OLD is an inherently toxic environment. First, all this graph proves is that men under 6’ have a disadvantage when matching with premium Bumble users. Some of those users probably got premium Bumble BECAUSE they’re weirdly picky about height.

Second, some of the OLD stats for men are just as embarrassing. A woman over 25 years old doesn’t have much of a chance on OLD with ANY age of men, whereas a man of any age has a decent chance with a woman who’s the same age. This is a graph on it.

One little tid bit id like to add regarding this conversation is that men greatly outnumber women on dating apps in general (paid memberships would be even worse) so when men complain about how picky women are, they're only citing the opinions of a small minority of them.
